I wouldn't know anything about Sentry as my application has been in the queue to be approved since August 17th.

Your application should have been processed within few days. I'd be happy to look into the situation if you email me at dave@sentrymarketing.com
I received a message from the forum at 2:54 AM with the following link:

When I clicked on the link, a page was displayed which stated that the message could not be found. Does this mean a post was deleted?
Jeese Dave. It does not take a Rocket Scientist to figure that one out. Up @ 2:54 AM? Can't sleep? Guilty Conscience?...winking smiley

Shopping Bama and parts of Georgia.
I'm still learning 24/7.
I was not up at 2:54AM, that's what time the email came in.

I was asking a simple question because. You don't need to be jerk in your reply. The topic of deleted threads was just discussed, at length, last week. A well respected member of this forum hammered me last week for making a joke about content being deleted from this forum. It seems odd that it would happen, on a Sentry thread, the very next week. Different standards?

edited to correct misspelling (delete/deleted)

To all concerned about forum policies, including ending or deleting threads, Jacob crested the Meta area just for that sort of discussion. You would be doing everyone a favor if you moved any concerns about forum policy to the appropriate area and let this thread die. There is little to no hope of generating a useful discussion of forum policies on this present thread.

Based in MD, near DC

Poor customer service? Don't get mad; get video.

Thank you for the clarification. I apologize for adding on to this thread and will re-post my question in the appropriate location.

Thanks again,

Dave

Oh my word. Here I thought that I was the only one to get a nasty message from that character. You are in good company Dave.

For real people. TGIF. Life is too short to be trolling for trouble.

Thank you very much.

I agree with this post. I completed this shop months ago and experienced the same thing. It took me almost 2 hrs to do the report. I really liked the burger, but will never do this shop again. I can easily do another FF shop and use the money I made from it to go and visit this particular Sentry shop on my own time. I have done other shops for this company and they have narratives too, but nothing as ridiculously long as this burger shop. I don't think it's fair that some people are posting negative things about this post. I would just like to point out that I have viewed reports in advance, only to have them add additional parts to the report depending on how I answer questions. Sometimes what you see, is not what you always end up doing.
It always takes me longer than I anticipate to do the shops reports. Dragon speak has helped me fill out reports immensely.
Just happened to me too. I jumped on it when they listed it as they had just opened. I also pointed out to them that they had the wrong address and city here in CT and was ignored about it. Then I do the narrative and I wrote a term paper with less description about WW II than I have to about this bleeping burger. Also, they want all types of details about when I used the bathroom. Seriously? Never again.
I think I can clearly claim to have no dogs in this fight. I didn't even know it was a fight until I heard the ruckus. Please don't bother telling me this was just an enthusiastic discussion. I know a argument when I read one.

As for me; well I don't have an axe to grind with anyone and don't think anyone could possibly have a bone to pick with me. I just joined this fine forum several hours ago. I have never done any shops, don't know any of the players in this little epic that I've been reading here.Until yesterday evening any time I saw "mystery shopper" I thought it was a scam. I am what you call in the research stage of considering if I may want to try this here mystery shopping thing. I sure learned a bunch tonight.

I have to admit that this thread has been informative in many ways. When I read the OP I appreciated what she had to say about that job she had taken on. You call them shops I believe. I didn't think she was throwing rocks at anyone. I was pretty shocked at the immediate reply to what she said. Right shortly someone gave what seemed to be a very good response about the three things that needed to be addressed in a food narrative. I filed that away as good information. Then it mostly went down hill.

Without going over previously plowed ground I'll just say what I took away from this little epic is that I'd be awfully hesitant to pose a question, and surely wouldn't vent on this forum without giving it some long thought.

I appreciate y'all letting me join and I'll just sit back down quietly in the corner and see what I can learn from listening to the discussion. I had a couple of questions but I'll just keep 'em to my self for the time being.

Hoot2U, welcome to the forum. Your insight and remarks, as a newcomer to the forum and a new shopper, are appreciated. There is a wealth of information shared by shoppers with varying shop experiences. Feel free to hang out in the background, but I encourage you to participate on topics of interest to you. You have already realized that some topics are hot-buttons. They are easily ignored, although some are like averting your eyes from a train wrecksmiling smiley
Welcome Hoot2u...ditto to what Mert said. Also, if you have a question and are a little hesitent about posting it, you can always pm (privage message) someone on here. I would help, if I am able, but there are also a lot of other helpful people on here.

aprilredbird, I agree that shop doesn't pay a lot but you knew that going in. I agree 122 miles is a long trip but you picked this shop up for the "free" meal because you were going to be in the area anyway. Since you were aware of the fee and the mileage going in, there should be no complaints about Sentry on those issues.

Yes, their food shops require a lot of narrative. You can get the time down considerably as you gain experience. Yes, their editors are really tough. I've been doing one particular fast casual for some years and I still get the bounce backs now and then. It's always some dumb mistake I made or some "no" comment I omitted. Actually, I'm surprised they still put up with me. I have another one at lunch today and I'll give it my best shot.

Here's the deal on shops we don't like. There's no point in berating the company because we are not a good fit for one of their shops. If we do one and it's not for us, we're free to move on to something else. We don't have to accept any future shops from them. If you're not willing to learn to do that particular shop for the fee and reimbursement offered, someone else will do it.

What you've actually told us in your post about Sentry is that you were disappointed in how the report went, that you got bogged down and it took you two hours. Those reports do not take that long once you catch on to them. It's up to you to make it work and it's no reflection on the MSC if you don't want to put in the effort to learn to do the shop efficiently.
Hello, MSCLUSO. I was about to start a thread about Dragon but did a search first to see if it had been discussed already. I received the software as a gift and have not yet uploaded it. I was wondering if any mystery shoppers had tried the software and found it helpful. How do you incorporate it into your work? Does it go to a word document where you then cut-and-paste it into the report?
If you wanted a free lunch on your route, I'm sure that there were other shops that pay more of a shop fee for less work. I like the fries but not the burgers at the place you shopped. I did that shop once and with all that narrative, I did not do anymore. Plus, how many sentences can you possible come up with to describe the smell of the ladies room? And really, it is kind of silly for them to expect to 'taste' the burger through your description - and all for $4. Thankfully I was deactivated from Sentry for expressing my opinion and I no longer worry about them but I do read the posts because they make me laugh that things will never change with this MSC.
The issue about the "taste" description was already addressed on page 1 of this thread. Our editor did not request such a description. The editors exact text to the shopper were as follows:

2. In the Food & Beverage descriptions, please add more details on your Main Item (NAME OF ITEM REMOVED) and the beverage you ordered (Sprite). The reader should be able to visualize each item from reading your description. Comment on the presentation (type of serving dish, garnish, and visible ingredients), portion size, temperature and quality of each item. Exclude all opinions, such as “good” and “delicious.” The reader should not be able to tell whether or not you liked an item. Read the samples written in blue form

Also, guanadu, you never completed the burger shop. A quick check of the 17 assignments you did complete for us confirmed this.

Accuracy matters.
