Marketforce (FF) shops....watch out!

@dmtmiller21 wrote:

I am absolutely livid about a bad MForce experience with a (FF) shop. So be careful if you take any of these. The shop notes clearly state that shoppers are NOT TO ACCEPT a L size drink even if offered for free. At my recent shop the server said that they only had L and no M. So I told them I didn't want the drink. Then they apparently took some time seeing to it that they gave me a M rather than no drink at all. My shop was marked "Invalid" with no payment, stating that I should have accepted the L if that's the only size they had. Clearly their shop notes are misleading, and I am disappointed in the company's refusal to pay me. Because they refuse to budge I am chalking this up to a bad experience and will no longer take their (FF) shops...but wanted to warn other shoppers out there to "beware."

Get over the livid and think about it. Go back and read the guidelines again. You made a bad choice. You were on the right track and you ordered correctly. That met the requirement in the guidelines. All you had to do was accept whatever they gave you and note in the report why what you received was different than what you ordered.

I've made bad decisions, too, so don't beat yourself up over it. You're out a few bucks. Okay. Learning lesson. But being livid because you goofed is a waste of time. And warning other shoppers to BEWARE because you made a mistake and didn't get paid is extreme overkill.

You are SO wrong and I beg to take issue. I am the most condescending whatever it was on the forum and I'll thank you in advance to pay closer attention and give accurate credit where it's due.

I'm trying to figure out what I said that is condescending?

One can be financially challenged and still attempt to make healthier lifestyle choices. Instead of joining a gym, put on some sneakers and go for a brisk walk outside. Besides the cost of the sneakers, walking is free.

As far as food goes, take grocery shops to help pay for the groceries and prepare your own meals at home. You have more control of what ingredients goes into your food. I will cook a couple of meals on the weekends and eat the leftovers throughout the week. My crock pot and electric skillet are big time savers and help cut down on fat.
Mary, I was just so shocked it wasn't me who was the most condescending (inappropriate name removed by mod).

Yes, edited twice because my tablet is not playing nice tonight.

i'm (note to grammar police, yep it's a friggin' contraction) more-than-highly offended that i'm not included.
Sorry to disappoint you, LIsa, but you have not yet attained my level although I must congratulate you on not being far behind me. I'm envious of those who can do these fast food shops for $50. An over abundance of shoppers here keeps bonuses way down. Since arkndove only takes a bite or two, I doubt he is tremendously damaging his health or his waistline.

You MUST receive your three items.....if they were ever out of something (like fries), I think I would abort the shop, call and/or reschedule.
PCBrian, I can't think why you and Lisa weren't included. Seems like an error to me. It's hurtful when people don't appreciate our special talents, isn't it? Oops, there's another contraction. You may have noticed I use those all the time. I've made a point of it since I was informed very early on that the professional mystery shopper never uses contractions. I use them constantly when speaking and wouldn't be able to carry on a worthwhile conversation without them. Posting on the forum is sort of like chatting with one another, you know? Oops, that wasn't a very good sentence, was it? Moving on here . . .

I would not abort the shop. You can't get fries if they have no fries... I would do the shop. If for some reason it was invalidated, I would "then" abort future shops with no fries in the building or ask the scheduler what to do if fries are not at the location. smiling smiley
So they gave you a med drink which your shop needed, right. Why would you tell the CSR about the free L drink offered. Sometimes MS is a matter of knowing when to shut up.
My last job at that FF was in May, I ordered an M drink and an M fry with my sandwich (individually, not a combo). However, I received an L drink and an L fry and reported that on my report. I got paid and had no bad marks but I have not been offered any more shops for that company since. As if it was my fault. I am hesitant to give any bad marks on any shop for fear of retribution from my MSC.

Wha--? Did I miss someone claiming that the use of contractions isn't proper grammar? That's ridiculous!

Yep...many editors feel that the use of contractions is not using proper grammar. That may be true (I'm a psychologist and not an English teacher) but, imho, it's (here is a good example of what I'm about to point out) it is cumbersome, unwieldy and just sounds stupid. Nitpicking, anyone? I feel that downgrading reports due to the use of contractions is just another reason for editors to prove to the MSCs that employ them that they are doing their job(s) and god forbid awarding too many 10's?
Thanks for all of the input. I really appreciate it. FYI, I did comment specifically and in a detailed fashion, but was not paid due to my "causing a delay" by requesting a M after they posted the L on the screen and told me they did not have M. I declined any drink. But apparently their proactive efforts to accommodate me anyway, which caused a delay, were attributed to me and used as an excuse to decline payment. I specifically agree that buying food I don't eat is a waste of my time; so I will not do any more of these in the future.
The guidelines specified that I was not to accept a large. And you are right about the livid....but it felt good to vent.
They have mostly been good to me in past, however recently I had a similar problem as the editor took my comment n a paticular section out of context it was in and claimed report invalid. Maybe they have a new editor.

That's silly! I wasn't an English Major (English minor, though, does that count?), but I've always heard the rule that in professional business writing, you use contractions if to not do so makes the sentence sound more stilted and awkward than with them.

Yep, I'm in and contraction on.

Further posters wanting in must use copious contractions.
isaiah58 - Don't take it to heart. I think you meant your comment as a helpful suggestion. The tone was condescending, but not everyone recognizes tone when writing rather than speaking. And there are even people who aren't sensitive to tone when they are speaking.

I must admit that I will do one of these only when it is inside a discount store so there is no possibility of doing a drive thru. The pay is the same, only the reimbursement differs because you buy only one meal.

Flash, we have one store in my area that only has a drive thru that I used to do for the same reason. A one-part shop is much simpler and I hate wasting food (or trying to eat more than I should). But, one time they tried to reject it because I did not do the dining room. I had to email Helpdesk several times that they did not have a dining room and finally got someone to verify that so I could get paid...LOL. I quit doing them after that.

absolutely, msninja, but there seems to be a lot folks who cherish those $6 shops (and are terrified to lose them) & without specifics any "sour grape-like" comments don't pass the smell test.
I get ticked when people take those shops for $6. I was insulted when the MSC lowered the pay from $7 (which was already too low) to $6, but people still take them anyway. I won't touch one for less than a $12 shop fee in addition to the reimbursement, and that's only if I already have something else to do in the area to make it worth my time. I got really irritated when that same MSC lowered the reimbursement for one of my favorite shops (high end skin and hair products) from $25 to $20. As it was, there was not a shop fee and it was reimbursement only, but I liked the products so much I would do them for $25 reimbursement. I quit taking them when they lowered it, and last month I had a desparate scheduler call me offering a bonus of $35 in addition to the $20, so heck yeah I took it. They think they are going to save money by cutting fees and reimbursements and it ends up costing them more.
I just did a shop for them this week, and the only drink size they offered was a large cup, as it was a self-serve drink station. Then they actually questioned me because the receipt was $15.06 - a whole six cents more than the allowed $15.00. THEN they wanted to know why it took 8 minutes and 18 seconds to receive my meal, and wanted me to give them an explanation of the extra 18 seconds! Really? Imagine the reaction if I had actually asked the sweet young fellow in the kitchen why he had taken SO LONG to cook my burger!! I know they are very service oriented, but that's just a little over the top. Wonder if I'll even get paid for this one!
