GFK is ridiculous

I just signed up a couple days ago to work with them. I got assigned a car insurance survey and they literally gave me 3 pdf files to print, which included 12 pages EACH full of questions that needed to be answered and faxed back. Then 2 days later you get another set of questions. For 20$? No. Does this seem outlandish???

The shop isn't too difficult really. I did the online quote scenario and did not have to print anything, I just read the guidelines online and filled out the report on the website. Pretty easy $20 I'd say. I wish I had waited a bit longer to sign up, as some pretty nice bonuses started appearing in my area.

I guess you got a different scenario than I did. Yeah, that's a lot of printing. And faxing the report? I can't remember the last time I faxed anything. I'd be a tad upset as well. I know there have been a few threads started about this shop, maybe you'd have gotten a fair warning by reading one of those. Live and learn!

Wait, you didn't have the 3 pdfs to do? It was like over 300 questions to answer for EACH of the insurance companies. I am new to all of this, this was my first attempt on GFK and I was pretty shocked about what was expected.
I stopped doing GfK shops 'cause they require a good bit of work for not much pay. Your experience seems like a bit of an extreme, even for GfK. The whole printing forms, filling them out, and sending them in is a scenario I'll almost always turn down unless it's a $75 mortgage shop.

Well it's really weird bc after PaulinMI messaged me, I went back to make sure I was understanding it all correctly. But, this time the pdf were no longer there?? And it was just the survery for the 2 companies. However, I know what I saw bc I still had the 3 pdfs open on my comp. I have no idea...
I know there are different scenarios involved in this shop, telephone, online, etc.. I did the online scenario, so after reviewing the guidelines, it was pretty simple. Just get the quote(s), and fill in the report that required very little narrative. A lot of questions, but just yes/no/na answers.

@Itsasecret817, Maybe I'm wrong, but I think the pdf forms you're referring to are the guidelines. You can always get them back by hitting the guidelines link on your shopper log.

I'm confused. Do we have one member posting under two different usernames in the same thread?

It would appear so since Itsasecret817 indicates they were PMed and this was their first post.
For these shops, do you have to provide your SSN to the companies you're doing quotes for? I don't want to take a hit on my credit score for mystery shopping! smiling smiley

I got that impression as well, but just let it go. All my input on this topic is in the thread.

@eisenhkz. I don't remember entering my SSN, just my DL#. I was amazed when doing the online shop how much information the systems were able to autofill into the application (address, # of drivers in the household, etc.) just by giving a little information, even though I've never had any association with either company in the past. So much for privacy these days.

@PaulinMI--------->Since 9.11, Homeland Security has kept better track of YOU/Us than we keep of ourselves. And with each legal application we fill out, they collect a little more. SSN and DL/State Issued IDs are "hand holding partners". If you communicated with the insurance company through a landline phone, then he had your "for sure" address and your house occupants. So if anything, he was verifying what his "screen" pulled up for your name and DL.

BTW, before 9/11 there were people whom had more than one SSN and it was harder for "then" TSA/CIA/FBI/IRS to keep track. Also, back in the day, SSN was issued while you were in high school or when you got your first job. Now they are issued at birth.

If you use a burner phone or a prepaid phone, you may get one or two more questions before you are connected to the image on his screen.

So, PRIVACY does not exist any more.smiling smiley

Most of these insurance shops is to get information or to compare information. So I don't see a credit check being done because you are not signing up for any insurance.

I did the call center scenario with a nice bonus and found it to be pretty easy. Granted, it took 20 minutes with each company to get the quote, and the report had three sections, but it was pretty straightforward and I did not have to leave the house. The only pdf's I saw were the guidelines and the survey for reference, and I did not print them out.
