I saw an assignment for MF which involves me counting the patrons at a local movie theater and having the manager fill out a form regarding number of tickets sold. I've never done one of these and I have a question about the pay. It states "Payment per each day for this check is $45 for 1st screen* and $20 for each additional screen. Payment is NOT per show time!"
So this means that I would be checking 4 different movie times, from 1:00 PM until 10:00 PM for $45? Has anyone done one of these that can shed some light on this? I'm not sure how this is even profitable, unless I'd be in the area for 9 hours straight. Maybe I shouldn't sign up for this assignment after all. Also, it states that you have to mail the paperwork as well as enter it on their website?
I've done a number of these, and you're parsing it correctly. I'll basically do this one two occasions; it's very close to home, or it's an area I can spend the day at either making other jobs happen or just accomplishing things. If you're checking a big release, you'd be surprised at how those extra screens add up, by the way.
A theater is often the perfect place to do your reporting when you have an open check, as well. The staff tends to be very friendly, and management will usually share wifi passwords.
Sparsely attended and multiple screens are the best open check. Organize your day and you will find it profitable in completing other shops around the area. I've done it many times and I really enjoyed my day. Just remember that you have to mail the report as well so be prepared for the extra material.
