They'll call you if they can use you. No need to pay $9.99.

I didn't sign up and have been called a few times to do their shops. I just did one two weeks ago, the scheduler was very nice and the editor was very nice too. Shop was fairly simple.
Great company, I also did not pay the fee. I have performed dozens of shops for them across several clients. Since they do not list requirements up front, be prepared to turn a shop down if you are not comfortable with the payment structure or requirements.

You don't need to pay and you shouldn't pay any fee. I used to get called when they needed a shopper in Toronto for an upscale shop. I have stopped accepting them because the fee was too low. They don't have a website. And, don't hold your breath. winking smiley

I never paid the $9.99 either and they call me regularly for shops. They do have a regular one for me (I hit the limit on them!) for a well known sporting good store. The shop only had a $5 fee but had a $30 reimbursement on whatever I wanted. I was able to go to the clearance section and get great quality shoes and stay well within the reimbursement. My teenage son was so happy!

Shopping across Indiana but mostly around Indianapolis.
I used to do a ton of day care phone calls for Elise, but apparently that program ended. Does anyone know if they offer any other phone shops?
Thanks!
Very disappointed. My recruiter great! Elise refused my reports 10 days post submission! I was REFUSED, NOT REIMBURSED for out of pocket expenses on exam. Not okay in my book. I worked for Market Research firm The Locksley Group, Ltd in the 90's recruiting, administrative end with reports and shops as well, we NEVER EVER conducted ourselves in such an unprofessional, rude manner. Shoppers were reimbursed even if their report could not be salved.

Hi, suzqbluz, welcome to the forum. It sounds as though when you worked for Market Research you were a direct employee. Direct employees get paid for the time they work - you get paid for showing up and trying, whether you actually do the job "right" or not. Mystery shoppers are not employees. We are independent contractors who run our own businesses and the mystery shopping companies (like Satisfaction Services) are our customers. If we do a job correctly and it is accepted by our customer, we get paid and reimbursed. If we do not do the job correctly and it is not accepted, we neither get paid nor reimbursed.

Think of this as when you hire an independent contractor; for example, you hire a painter to paint your bedroom. The painter paints the bedroom and does a super job, but he uses the wrong color paint. You wanted pale pink. He painted it Pepto-Bismo pink. You won't pay him, because you will now have to pay someone to paint it the right color. And why would you pay him for his paint?

Independent contractors only get paid for doing the job right.
... which is why oftentimes we get emails that say our shops have been finalized and passed on to the client for review and acceptance.
