their cell phone shops don't pay a lot but people seem to do them in my area because they are gone by Friday. They release them in weekly batches. They used to be $15 and that's why I no longer do them.

I remember when the phone shops were $25...
I don't do them anymore --they insist that my photos don't include the time and date info when you click on them despite it showing up on every other shop I do. I've tried 2 phones and my ipad and they still don't like my pictures. Oh well.
(I also noticed they went from take a picture of the exterior, to exterior pic and associates name to pic, name and business card. I wonder how many shops they had that people just faked with a drive by snap of a picture of the exterior.)

I did 3 of them this week. All of the shops were close to where I live and I did them after work. The input was simple. No, it's not a lot of money, but it's not a lot of time either. It was a very easy $27 for me.

I do them, too. Usually as a stop in between shops or on the way to or from work as well. They are exceptionally easy, as they aren't evaluating customer service at all-- just polling which phones/watches/services are more recommended than others. Easy shop, easy report. No, of course I would not get in my car and drive all the way to town and back for $9. No one would. But, if I'm already driving by, will I stop the car for a 10 minute shop and 5 minute report and collect $9? Absolutely. Every time.

I can understand using one of these as a "filler" in between other shops or even if you're just going to be in the area anyway, running personal errands. If the report's really 5 minutes, I'd do one under those circumstances, too. I, too, can't imagine anyone making a specific trip to do one. Where I live, there aren't many electronics shops to begin with. To find one of these that would conveniently be near another shop, or where I'd be doing something else anyway, or even to find several close enough together to make it worthwhile--not going to happen!
What about the $6 shops? Could anything make one of those worthwhile?

Birdy, I did a $7 shop on Sunday. It was in the same location as another shop I was doing for more money. I had the same rep for both shops, made one purchase and used the same receipt for both. I let the MC know in advance, and they were fine with it.

I do a lot of base pay work and I never drive anywhere for a dedicated shop. Everything has to be on a route with other work, no such thing as a one shop trip. I suspect if these shops aren't done before and after a regular job, they're done along with several other shops to make up a day's work. I don't hesitate to pick up a short, easy $8 or $9 shop that's on my rat track.. Beats the dog out of one that's $75 and eats a day. The fact they're getting them done proves the fee is spot on.

I do these shops all the time. I am in and out in 15 minutes, extremely small report on my phone and take my picture of the front of the store, business card and submit. These are self-approve shops and bypass editing. The $6.00 shops are for 2 unlocked phones which in BB they only have 2 in my area. These reports in my opinion are well worth it as there is no REPORT. The very last question in the series does not need a step by step explanation rather in a nut shell. So, $9.00 for 20 minutes of time no report, do them all day. The 6.00 one is easier.

I add convenience stores to my routes, and they are not very much money but they add up. I am very confused about people that add comments to post only to say insulting things. It must be nice to not have to accept low paying shops, but for some of us, we need the money. I am not married, and I am disabled and I am not going to be ashamed of myself to the point of being too embarrassed to make a post in the forum. I am sure mystery shoppers are a very diverse group of individuals.
I think a lot of it depends on your locale. For me, I don't take $8 shops. Not because I'm "too good for them" or whatever, but because they are not worth it for the time for me. For instance this particular phone shop. Most of the ones near me and in places I travel are in high traffic areas that will take 5 minutes just to get in and out of. If they are not busy it's a quick shop but if they are you could be there 45 minutes (been there). Even if it's a quick shop 5 minutes in, 10 minutes onsite, 5 minutes out, 10 minute report (because yes you have to include getting the photos together and logging into the site, etc) we are talking about $16 an hour.
When I put together a route I figure my total income, subtract expenses, and then divide by the total time it will take start to finish (drive, shop, report) to get an average $ per hour. Once I have a base and have figured this number out, I only add shops that will raise that number.
Obviously some people will be limited by the number of shops in their area or their transportation options, but to me this is the best way to figure out if something is worthwhile or not. If you have options that will raise the number, why take options that will lower it unless you have exhausted all available shopping opportunities.

You should not take any shops that you do not feel are worth your time, if these shops are not worth it then skip and move on to the next. A small tip, if you see two $6 shops at the exact same location (1 for smart watch and 1 for 2 unlocked smart phones) they can be done at the same time, submit 2 easy reports and it's a $12 shop. A lot of different kinds of shoppers take these shops, like breestjon pointed out, they are very easy and perfect for beginning mystery shoppers for example. If they are not your cup of tea feel free to not do them.
There are a ton of shops I either will not do or I'm not suited for, it's a big wide mystery shopping world out there!
