I just want to jump on here and say as a newbie, I was THRILLED to see the editing criteria. I have done various forms of freelance writing over the years and so working with editors is nothing new to me. However, having direct instructions, especially when I am a newbie and trying to sort out the differences between the different MSCs and what they want, was AWESOME. Editors can be, or seem to be, quite capricious and random sometimes; it's nothing new if you've done any kind of writing. I've even had articles published in public in my own name where the editors just randomly changed wording to mean something I never meant to say. When there are criteria laid out like that, it gives you BOTH something to work from and you are on the same page.
I've worked several gigs already that were scheduled through Kern and had only one issue, which turned out to be my fault. I won't go into it here because I am trying to remain incognito for as long as I can. LOL. But they were nice about it and we resolved it.
I do wonder when people post stuff like this on this board under an alias. Now Kern is going to know what your alias is because you got so specific with your complaint. You don't mind? So then why use an alias?
