Question about paying a company to shop for them

I came across a company that wants me to pay $36 for admin fees (one time payment). Does anyone on here pay any companies to be a mystery shopper or do you avoid those? I haven't paid any company yet but wondering if the shops are better or more gauranteed or something.

NO. This is a bad, bad idea. Never pay to shop. You can find all the free information you need here. By signing up with the companies in the list below, you can shop for companies who pay YOU to shop for them. Skip any company that wants your money.
There have been a few 'companies' out there that charge a fee for 'membership'. They are referral services so just go tell you where to register. You can get as much, if not more, information about shops in your area from Jobslinger.com (free) or accumulator job boards. And once you are registered with a company you will get emails about shops or can visit their job boards. So no, there is no justifiable reason to pay to shop.

Welcome to the forum! In your down time, start reading the different sections, if mystery shopping interests you. There are some pitfalls in shopping, but to be sure, other shoppers here have experienced them and posted their stories. If you haven't found it yet, the Search function is valuable, and there's an official list of mystery shopping companies at the bottom of the page.

P.S. Don't pay the $36!
