Norton Norris - when do they pay??

Hello everyone! I am new to mystery shopping, and have only performed a few shops. Most of the shops I have performed have been college shops for Norton-Norris. Does anyone know when they pay and if they pay via paypal or direct deposit?

I've never heard of the company. Did you check your independent contractor agreement? Some MSCs include the payment method and terms there.

I found this statement on their publicly accessible web page, so I now know that they are highly specialized: "At Norton Norris, our approach to providing admissions and marketing solutions to colleges and universities is driven by one thing – results." I couldn't even find a place to sign up as an independent contractor, but that doesn't mean that it isn't there. There is a place to look for freelance careers, but none are available currently. They do describe mystery shopping at universities (http://nortonnorris.com/mystery-shopping/), but I could not find a way to sign up (even if I met the demographic).

I have heard recently that Mystery Shopping Scams are targeting colleges. Never cash a check!!!!!! SCAM!
Hi TWells! Payments are made by either Paypal or check, whichever you prefer. Should you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to your scheduler too. smiling smiley

I just went to their web site to sign up. On the front, before you type in the usual "I agree", there are two sections to read. The first section is a "Confidentiality/Non-Compete Agreement". Item # 6 states the following, and is a direct quote:

"6. Employment. While I am employed/under contract by Company, I will devote my best efforts to Company's business and will not engage in any other business or employment with other vendors, institutions, consultants, or businesses in the higher education industry without the prior written approval of Company's Managing Partners." (Emphasis mine)

What exactly does that imply??? Does it mean that if I want to do a mystery shop to check out the testing procedures at a college for another MSC, I can't do it WITHOUT THEIR PERMISSION because of this clause??? Or if I want to audit the cafeteria procedures at a local college, again, do I need the permission of Norton-Norris??? I'm confused about that clause. If is JUST said "employed" and NOT employed/ under contract by, I wouldn't give it a second thought.

The second part is their INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR RELEASE, WAIVER OF LIABILITY AND COVENANT NOT TO SUE and NOWHERE, either in the first or second part, can I find WHEN they pay their contractors. So if the previous poster, Andrea - Nn, who apparently has some connection to this company, would care to post again and share WHERE it is listed just HOW this company pays, ALONG WITH CLARIFICATION about Item #6, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you!

Hi guysmom,
Thank you for your interest! Yes, we must abide by strict confidentiality guidelines because we are a highly specialized agency. Payments are issued at the start of each month for the month prior and though Paypal is preferred, we can also send a check upon request. We have been conducting admissions shops since 1999 and have earned a stellar reputation in the industry. I understand your concerns and would be happy to address them further; feel free to contact me at agunning@nortonnorris.com.

Best regards,
Andrea G.
