Referral Incentives

Are there any companies, other than Best Mark (I do have a link and ID to input if anyone is interested) that give incentives for referrals?

That's interesting. I thought it would actually help companies grow and expand in the long run since that's why they offer referral incentives.

If I am correct speaking for myself I don't need anymore competition. I would not make a referral for that reason, whether it is in my location or any other of my shoppers locations. Some of the shops that I do would possibly cut me out of work.

You have to make the decision if you want to help the companies grow their business or if you would rather grow your own business. I can tell you which decision they make every day.

Equal rights for others does not mean fewer rights for you. It's not pie.

Fortunately for me, I have few friends where I live right now but many that are in places that I probably never will shop. Since that is the case, I have no trouble referring people to companies. And if it helps others who need extra cash as badly as I do, then that makes me feel wonderful. I would hope they would do the same for me.

I personally tend NOT to do referrals, especially not of beginning shoppers, since their possible poor performance could reflect back on me. Similarly I have established many friendships over the years with shoppers from around the country and would not add shoppers to their backyards. What I WILL do is when a company is looking for a shopper in a particular area, I will contact shopper friends who I know are in that area to see if they are interested and try to get them hooked up. I have never asked for or received any referral fee. New shoppers need to go with the basic companies that are accustomed to working with new shoppers simply because they will get instructions that are more complete and likely some coaching if they don't understand something. Anything else I personally find rather irresponsible because it does nothing for the company to have a failed shop and nothing for the shopper either.
I have referred a few people to companies over the years, and in most cases, it didn't end well. They were not good shoppers. I decided that I am not a good judge of who will be a good shopper. There is no need to debase my reputation by recommending them. Now for the occasional friend in other parts of the country, I point them to this forum and maybe to a few MSCs and I let them fend for themselves.

I occasionally help a couple of small MSCs by asking established shoppers from the forum, or who I know from conferences, if I can refer them. However, I do not refer new shoppers because these MSCs both require a long track record and will actually interview prospective shoppers at length and, even then, ask them to do a couple of test shops (for which they will be compensated if the shop is accepted). If, and only if one of my referred shoppers establishes a significant track record, doing a large number of shops with high scores each month, I can get some compensation. And, I am on tap to help such a shopper succeed, btw. I am not compensated for mentoring, lol, but I do it anyway.

Most MSC referrals are far more "casual," and a fee may be paid if the referred shopper does as few as 2-3 shops with an average score.

Mrs. Guage,
The best help that you could possibly give to your friends to get started shopping would be to send them to this forum and encourage every one of them the read all of the topics pinned to the top of the list in the New Mystery Shoppers area. Just getting them in touch with some MS companies will not help them to avoid many, many pitfalls and even costly scams.

A local shopper who knows me as a member here gave me a referral with her Ardent scheduler for me to get into an already full class. They should have received the shopper referral bonus as they went above and beyond to get me in. I'm not saying who unless she wants to reply.

Unfortunately, I already applied for them about a year earlier, so I could not add the referral email to the application box as I they saved my application and just activated the account.
