Oops. Quite right. Not sure what I was thinking about there!

I received an email from them in the past couple of days. I started reading this thread & see that it morphed into a paypal discussion, so I wanted to add my 2 cents.

I signed up for a PayPal Debit card & have been pretty happy with it. There are no fees and when I select the 'credit' option instead of using a PIN with the debit card, I also receive 1% cash back based on the purchase amount.

Also, I once had a paypal payment bounce back. The MSC in question had me list my email address a couple of times. In the field for "paypal" email, I put "same" in the field. It took 30-45 days to get straightened out, but it got fixed. It was my fault, I suppose.

I just did 2 shops for them in August and here it is almost the middle of October and no payment. I called today and spoke with miss Judy Harza the "specialist" and if I could have jumped through the phone I would have. She all but called me a liar, laughed at me and cut me off numerous times. They told me my PayPal email address was wrong and it was sent to an email that I've never heard of. So either someone working there put in a different PayPal address to get the payment or they made a mistake. Either way, they're highly unprofessional. I spoke with 3 different people and they all reacted the same way. As soon as they heard I had a problem, their tones changed and they were all accusatory. Won't be dealing with them again.
Sorry you had this bad experience. I did a shop for Jancyn and I got paid far sooner by PayPal than I expected. The payment was very generous. My scheduler Ginny, was very nice and answered any questions I had promptly. I have been patiently waiting to be eligible for these shops again. I really enjoyed it. I think I am going to take more than one (if I can) this next time around.

Forgive my grammar and spelling on the boards. I am off duty.

I don't mean to be rude, but do you work for them? And what does it mean you're "off duty"? I just don't trust companies that give you the run around or can't accept fault for something they did wrong. I always double check where my payments are going to make sure that I receive them, so I'm really dumbfounded as to why in the world I'd put down an email address that 1)I've never used in my life and 2)I don't have a PayPal account linked to. I can understand it having been my error if I had mistyped the last 2 numbers, but the last numbers AND the server(@live.com instead of yahoo.com)??? I'd have to be an idiot to have made that kind of typographical error and not noticed, especially since I don't have a live account. I use Google or Yahoo only.

My issue is that someone put that email address there and it wasn't me. They will, of course, vehemently deny this ever happening and somehow I'll be screwed out of my payment. I've worked as a mystery shopper for a few years now and this is the first company I've had a problem with. To say they were unprofessional is an understatement. If you don't work for them, sorry for assuming by your message that you do. And great for you that you were fortunate enough to receive your payments. My scheduler was great btw, if it had been only her that I'd dealt with, I would have no qualms dealing with Jancyn again.

bobdav is a shopper, just like you, bpifer. The "off duty" line is part of his signature -- now that you know he's a shopper, I'm sure you'll relate to its meaning!

Regarding this incident, PayPal would have a record of all transactions and corresponding bank accounts. The error is actually quite easy to prove, it just depends on how far you want to take it. Personally, I would pursue it, but that's just the kind of gal I am. ;-)

Lol!! Yeah, I get that. It can be a little tedious with the grammar and punctuations filling in the reports. I just didn't get it at first, some sites the signatures are a lot easier to spot. As far as the situation goes, I can't investigate with PayPal b/c I don't even have an account with that address so that's something they'd have to do since they were the ones who sent the payment there. Even so, I try to minimize my dealings with PayPal as I've had my fair share of issues with them. They're a necessary evil as far as I'm concerned since I sell on ebay and do MS I kind of have to use them. They have far too many loopholes and ways they can take/keep your money.
I really have had no issues with Jancyn. They forgot a bonus once but it appeared in Paypal within 24 hours of bringing it to their attention. I don't shop them much because they had only one client in my area that was of personal interest and they changed the rules on those shops to make them not feasible. It was a good gig where I could make a route of their locations alone, but then they cut it to 1 per day and that didn't cut it.
I did 2 shops in one day only because they needed it done right away. I didn't anticipate having a problem b/c I never have but I made the unfortunate mistake of assuming I'd be treated as a valued shopper and with even the most common courtesies. I may be able to work with them again as long as I don't have to contact "customer service". But if I were to have another payment issue with them I'd just write them off. There are far too many companies that are responsible for me to concern myself with one that has issues.

I personally think that the reason the people on the phones get away with snapping as the original poster stated, is because the calls aren't recorded. If they recorded their calls, this problem would essentially rectify itself. If they could fix that then I'd assume the company would be fine, like I said, my scheduler was awesome and she's been nothing but helpful.
bpifer, I'd call PayPal and just scope out the lay of the land, explaining that a payment sent to you was sent to another address in error, and asking the correct procedure to track it. I'd then relay the findings to Jancyn -- it would be a good way to let them know you're on it -- so they have to be, too! In case this helps, PayPal's # is 1-888-221-1161.
They must have people who work there trolling the boards, lol. They apparently only have 2 people Judy Harza and Nicole Laidlaw working there and they're both incapable of being professional. These people just removed me from their shopping service (not that I really care, as long as I get my money) and then Nicole sends this message:

Brandi,

Your email was forwarded to me for response. Your fees were paid on 29 Sep 2010. PayPal will confirm if the payments were returned to us on 28 Oct 2010. If the payments were returned, we will re-submit the payments to the PayPal email address currently shown on your profile within 10 days following.

In response to your allegations that our team is rude, I personally find it interesting that you would make that assertion since you cursed me before hanging up the phone, a behavior that was not exhibited by any one in the Jancyn team.

--Nicole

I assume that it's considered okay under company policy to be so rude and vexing to the point of angering a customer without caring. I LOVE mystery shopping but I will make sure everyone I know who does it avoids this company like the plague. One innocent question about payment being sent to the wrong place and there's hell to pay.

To all of you who got your money, congrats and sorry if it's offended you guys, I'm just shocked at the injustice and level of irresponsibility this company displays. I just want to put it out there for those who will, did or have had problems, it's not your fault. They're the ones with the problem. I wouldn't be surprised if they tried to have me banned from MSF.

SOOOO sorry to be negative b/c it's really not how I am, I really am just outdone at the way this was handled all because I wanted to know where my money was. No fault at all to Pamela my scheduler, she was great but everyone else I've dealt with has been less than savory. If you continue to shop with them save yourself a headache and don't call in for help, you won't get it.

I really have mixed feelings about companies reading the boards. On the one hand I see the boards as an opportunity for shoppers to help each other and vent (the coffee break room) and on the other hand I do see a whole lot of validity in companies reading about what we find outrageously frustrating in trying to deal with them. I am, of course, disturbed by their communication with you and termination. It does say a lot about them in and of itself.

I do hope that Jancyn and other companies who choose to read these boards go beyond the posts specifically related to their companies when they read because they would read of things that make us value companies. I did a shop yesterday for Trendsource, for example, that was closed. On the report there was an easy "click here" if unable to do the shop. A screen opened to allow a brief 'report' of what happened. I got a nice note back that a staff member was verifying that the location was indeed closed and they would be back to me if there were further questions. Now that I call 'civil'. TS confused me the first time they paid for a shop that could not be performed as the payment came in a day before work that actually was performed and reported. I suppose it is a different pocket that pays for cancelled or closed locations. But on due dates I know the money will be sitting in my bank account like clockwork.
That's great! I too have had MANY companies that I've worked with over the years and the only reason I've ever had to "leave" was due to relocation and the lack of availability in my area. I will still do it, I just have to remember that there are still people behind these companies. Some are stronger in areas where others aren't. The woman I had a problem with is unfortunately a manager for them so I don't have much faith that the company will do anything. All I can hope for is to receive the money I'm owed.

I too hope that the companies don't just look for what people are saying about them b/c it just screams immaturity. I think you should take what people say about an industry as a whole, for better or worse, and use it to make the necessary improvements.
I have done 3 shops for Jancyn and have had no problems. I like the clothes counting ones best!

Well that;s odd.

is she in violation? mentioning the client and the MSC in one post?

_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

back to the original subject.
I've done 3 jobs for Jancyn.

received payment for 2 on the same day, but no money for the third shop which
shows on the log as completed (no complaints).

I emailed them.

No answer to the email.

I have just signed up for some more shops.
THAT I AM THINKING OF CANCELING

If they won't answer an email explaining 2 shops paid on the date through paypal
but not the third. ....

should a person continue doing shops for them?

especially if the rude bad treatment is received from bookkeeping if you dare
to call them up ??????

Beginning to sound like Jancyn is a problem.

I'm pretty surprised. I've never known them to be a problem and I've worked for them for several years. If you have difficulty getting paid by them, you probably should discontinue working with them. I don't work again for a company if I repeatedly have difficulty getting paid. Try sending an e-mail to my favorite Jancyn scheduler, Karin Hovdesven karin@jancyn.com. Who was the scheduler on the job you completed? Have you e-mailed that scheduler? OR e-mail the contact point on your currently-scheduled shops and say that you have not been paid for XXX shop performed on XXX date and you are unsure who to contact but you need to know the status on the unpaid shop as you have currently-scheduled shops. I have done this with another company and gotten an immediate response.
@ Austin

Thanks

That's exactly what I did before I found your reply.

Different scheduler though and very nice.

gave me email of bookkeeping to contact.

must be some kind of oversight from bookkeeping or else Paypal lost it .

Monday I'll send it to bookkeeping

i've been receiving recruitment emails from them for assignments, but i haven't signed up for any jobs with them yet. now i might think twice about signing up with them. thanks for the warning.

in any event, they should just send you your payment by the previously agreed-upon deadline in the contract agreement, instead of waiting longer for a paypal reversal based upon their own error.
I have never had any issue with Jancyn or Paypal. Jancyn is among my trusted MSCs. They pay like clockwork and I have a good relationship with whoever is the scheduler at that time. They have always been honest and have treated me with consideration and respect.
Jancyn is at the top of my list. The discount retailer shops and clearance counting are very easy. I LOVE the kolache restaurants. In fact, I am a regular at one of their locations and love to go in once a month or so as a mystery shopper and get paid to eat my usual breakfast.
I love Jancyn and paypal. They pay on time and I applied for a paypal debit card. I save up my paypal deposits for special treats
