Anyone signed in at jobslinger today and tried to access the information for "Beverage Freshness Audit" by Superior Product Pickup?

Hi. I would like to give my fellow MS'ers about the link on Jobslinger for the "Beverage Freshness Audit" by Superior Product Pickup. I tried to find more information for the job today, was sent to the volition page, then received a message that my computer was compromised by a virus. It said that I must call Microsoft to remove the virus at the toll free number. I tried to find information about Superior Product Pickup on yahoo info and listed some general information about them. I did not click onto any direct websites of that company.

Caution! I doubt that the toll free number is going to get you to Microsoft. It will more likely take you to someone in a foreign country who will want access to your computer. Be very careful.

Agreed. Your computer likely has some sort of malware or tracking software on it. If you're unsure how to get rid of it yourself, I would recommend taking it to a reputable store and see if they can remedy it. Calling the number will likely only cause you to lose control of your computer and lose money after they tell you they can fix your computer for a fee.

I went into Jobslinger today and clicked on a totally different shop and got the same message that my computer was compromised. I have never had that before from Jobslinger.
Is it really a virus or is it a kind of pop up add made to look like a warning? I can remember getting those years ago. You are supposed to click a link for "diagnostics". I think you are OK unless you click the link. At least that is what my IT friend said when I first got one.
Just remember: "It's just a pop-up" smiling smiley when you get the:

"WARNING! YOUR COMPUTER IS INFECTED! Please call 800-555-5555. to remove the virus."

In other words, don't click on anything. Leave the page.
Has anyone contacted....is it Jack from Sassie???....at Jobslinger to ask him if he's noticed anything that looks like a hack or malware?? How would one go about contacting him about that??
Pretty much just spam. Get a good JavaScript blocker and you should be able to get rid of most of that junk. I use NoScript
So this is widespread through Jobslinger?!

catgranny, Jancyn has computer shops available. A tech will come to your home for an hour and fix whatevery problems you have.

My husbands job is computer repair. Microsoft will never do that. Neither will Apple. That's someone in another country trying to remote access your computer. If someone asks you to look up numbers on your computer, run their programs, or asks you to use "log me in" then they are not reputable unless you were on the actual microsoft webwage itself... and even then they want you to mail your computer in or wait for a technician to come out. I cannot tell you the scams people have gotten themselves into and once they are in your computer... they run a muck! Sometimes there's still traces of it, even after everything is all "fixed". Scary stuff! Do not call that number, and get someone to run a thorough virus removal that takes care of adware, malware, viruses/worms etc.

I had the same thing happen on another Jobslinger link. It is definitely a fake. There is no virus. Do not call the number. It may not let you leave the page. In that case, close your browser using Task Manager, or just restart your computer.
Thanks everyone for your advice. I asked my 22 year old son to remove that page. He was able to do so. He went onto the Task Manager and restarted the computer.
So is Job Slinger reputable otherwise? I've seen a few folks posting things like this in the forums and they are not currently on my list of companies that I work for...

Job Slinger is not a MSC, it is a job listing and reporting platform used by dozens of MSCs.

Jobslinger is not only reputable, you can use it to work with the MSPs that use Sassie as a platform. It gives valuable tools if you pay for Jobslinger Plus. The $50/yr allows me to see all the MSPs on Sassie in one place, all my assigned jobs and opportunities, in one place

The same thing happens to me every time I leave the volition website open on my computer. Which btw, how on earth do you become a member of that forum? I've tried 4 times now and I have not received any response back.
I log on jobslinger daily for MS job listings. The incident that I described was a one-time weird episode.
backtowork, when you get referred to the voilition page, do no click on that page. Just log on directly with that MSC. Get the web address and look up the info there if you are a member of that MSC.
