SQM - Travel Reimbursement

Has anyone out there worked with SQM ?? They are a company that claims they will reimburse 50% of your ticket costs (as long as you fly through certain airlines). As someone who likes to visit with my parents a few times of year out of state, this would be a HUGE help with travel costs. As a Mystery Shopper with over 11 years of experience, this throws up HUGE red flags. I've learned anything that looks too good to be true, usually is, especially in this industry. What really bothers me is that air travel has to be booked with THEM.. giving them my credit card # etc. I don't give my personal credit / banking information to anyone much less a company I have never heard of. If anyone has worked with them or know of them (good or bad), PLEASE let me know. Thanks !!

I have done the airlines as well as (railway journeys) for SQM several times. They are for real, relax and enjoy your visit with your parents.

Mod note: A reminder not to mention a client's name in the same thread as the MSC.
I have been with the MSC for about 10 years and I used to do a popular mall sandwich shop location with them way back when. They are legit. I did one of their airline shops earlier this year. Because I have a rewards card with this airline, I was disappointed to not be able to use my own rewards number. But the MSC is legit and I got reimbursed 1/2 my airline ticket as promised. Payment was paid in a reasonable timeframe. If you do it, try to get a straight flight, because if you have a layover you have to do 2 reports for the trip to your destination and 2 reports back. I did not find the reports too difficult. There are some timing questions regarding announcements and such. I am flying next month to visit relatives and decided to use my points for a free flight instead. If I didn't have a ton of points, I would have used this MSC again to book my flight. Hope that helps.
I did a flight earlier this yesr. Lots to remember, but report is cut and dry. I'd do again. Just be sure to do only direct flights. I didnt on my return trip and had an additional report as a result. You have to do a report for each leg of the flight.

Shopping up and down the Colorado Rocky Mountain front range.
I have taken a number of flights. The report is not difficult if you are experience with fine dining and hotel shops. They refund 50% to your credit card a week or two after you submit your report. They are really nice to work with and funny! You will not earn reward points but you pretty much can pick you flights. They are easy to work with as to whether you want to submit report for the entire flight, or just segments. When I did a 1 plane change flight, I pretty much finished the first flight's report by the time I got off the plane.

Last spring I flew back from a conference with four very experienced shoppers, two of whom are also independent schedulers. Each was transferring to a different flight from the one that we shared, and ALL of them were doing shops of both legs of their flights. Since I knew that SQM shops that airline, I knew that they were glad to work (as often as they can, from what they said) for the (un-named at any time) MSC. Yes the MSC books the flight. And the shopper does not get rewards miles for it. If 50 percent off of a long trip works for you. go for it.

Based in MD, near DC
Shopping from the Carolinas to New York
Have video cam; will travel

Poor customer service? Don't get mad; get video.

It's a great shop for the once-a-year flyer.

I now have over $1000 in flight credit in 4 months from being bumped, so I am doing much better paying for my flights. Usually, the MSC (not above discussed MSC) is paying for my flights really, as a part of a project or assignment out of state.

I have looked into this, but I like my points. Getting bumped/delayed has made me $600 on two of my last three trips. Much easier to tell the wife I will be home a day later when I tell her they gave me a $500 travel voucher to do it!
I've done a few of these and they are legit and not too difficult. 50% off a flight works for me!

They have a note on their website that they will soon be starting online payments for travel, so you won't need to send them your CC info in the future.
