Be aware Intellishop Senior Living has many problems, unless you like doing hours and days for free

Unfortunately I had several problems doing a senior living shop for them also. Repetitive questions, delayed editing and then I was dinged for doing the wrong type of shop - even though I had clarified this with the scheduler in advance.

I have been warned. I will not be doing any senior living shops of this type for Intelli-shop. By the way, I also have a flake citation attached to my record, permanently, it sadly seems, but the MSC still gives me shops and pays me for them. When I was a brand-new mystery shopper, I was assigned a shop for that MSC, but they did not send me an email letting me know about the assignment, nor did I receive a follow-up email reminder. So of course, I didn't do it. I DID receive the email chewing me out for failure to perform the shop, and when I went to my profile, there was my flake citation. Even though I protested that I hadn't even been told I got the shop, they didn't believe me, and that FC has remained there for five years! It really burns my hide.

I got screwed on this one too. Worked HOURS on it, and it was rejected... The only shop I've ebver had rejected... UGH!
I agree these shops are very time consuming, but I learned after the first one I did for Intelli-shop. My first one was eventually accepted after changing my words a little, but also adding specific details about my visit like what was shown and exactly what kind of activities were mentioned. I learned to wait until the bonus gets high enough to make it worth my time before accepting one. Intelli-shop is one of my favorite Msc's to shop for and do not have anything negative to say about them. I suggest learning from each shopping experience good or bad and move on.

I've only done one of these shops. There was an issue in the pre-visit phone call that I was concerned about, but the report went through without any issues.

I did one (Senior Assisted Living) for Intelli-shop a couple of years ago where they wanted a complete audio recording of the entire shop...they gave instructions on when to turn on the recording and when to turn it off. I did exactly as they said, turning on the audio recorder before entering the building, and then turning it off when exiting. I then filled out the complete report. I mean, it was a GOOD (thorough) report. The report was rejected, and I didn't get paid. Why? Because the Einstein editor said there were too many gaps in the report with no conversation; that she could hear papers rustling or footsteps (I was on a tour!), but that she was not about to listen to the complete recording. I got her on the phone (finally) and told her about the specific instructions, which I also emailed her. What was the response? She said, "Too bad...we can't use the report. You won't get paid." Taking my complaint up the ladder (all the way to Brian Caldwell and Michelle Bostater) resulted in the same response...."We can't use your report...too late now....sorry..." i still have those emails and phone call recordings! That was the last time I worked for Intellishop, truly the most unethical MSC out there.

Well, if they are breaking a contract with you by refusing to pay, what is to say that one can not contact the client directly and let them know that one is getting burned. I think that they do it so that they do not have to pay people.

The editors or proofreaders have always declined to let me know what errors I have made. The following was from a Director of Field Operations.

"Unfortunately, there is no way for the reviewers to tell you specific errors, as they deal with thousands of reports and shoppers on a daily basis. Please check out our writing guide on www.northforkresearch.com.

Thank you."

Well, if they deal with thousands of reports and shoppers on a daily basis, they can not be reading everything. It sounds like they have no clue what they are doing. Either that, or they have gone bonkers from all of the work and our taking it out on the shoppers.

One of the things in life that I will not tolerate is getting ripped off by anybody. I will acknowledge mistakes that I make. But if they conjure up some, then I am not going to be nice about it.

Go back and read your Shopper Agreement and it will be clear why they are able to make a determination to deem the shop unusable and not pay. Reading the Shopper Agreement will also tell you why contacting the client is a bad idea. It's a good idea to read the Shopper Agreements carefully before signing them. You might not agree and you might choose to not sign up with a company if you don't agree with its Contractor Agreement.

And I don't do the shops that are being discussed: too little pay for the work involved, too much risk, not my idea of a pleasant or comfortable shop.

Your experience is a good teaching lesson for newbies and a good reminder for the more experienced shopper. Not all MSCs and/or their reporting platforms send out an email upon receiving the assignment or a reminder email prior to your assignment.

There has to be an aggrieved party, anyway. So if you are going to publish direct quotes and use the name and title of the person in your Mystery Shopping Memoir, then hello fines and possible prison terms.
What on Earth are you talking about?
