Never work for Service Sleuth

FYI to mystery shopping friends. Never work for Service Sleuth. Their editors are snarky and ask for more details and once the details are given they never email you back but when it time to pay you they say "They didn't have enough details." Also their forms are hard to use and can only be filled out if you have cookies enabled on your browser.

I've been shopping for them since 2011. I've completed 68 shops with an average rating of 10. Stating my credibility, I have to say I've never run into any snarky editors or them asking me for details that were not expressed in their guidelines. Can you provide more detail about the type of shop you did and what sort of information they were seeking?

Doing what I can to enhance the life of my family! I LOVE what I do smiling smiley
I find their shops very easy, not difficult reporting at all, and the communication great. They also pay very fast. Sorry you had a bad experience.
Service Sleuth is one of the first sites I go to when looking to pick up additional shops. I think they are easy to work with, and their pay is commensurate with the work. Sounds like one report was problematic for you. No reason for everyone to abandon ship.
I find Service Sleuth very easy to work with and pay on time according to their schedulesmileys with beer

Maybe your complaint isn't with SS but their outside third party schedulersangry smileyconfused smiley
Like all the others who responded here, I find Service Sleuth a breeze to work with. I've been shopping for them since 2010 and only once did I get less than a 10 - I got a 9 on one report. The editors of Service Sleuth grade VERY EASY and I have never run across a snarky one. The report form is easy to use and I've never had any difficulty with it. I agree that they pay on time according to their posted payment schedule.
What are the chances we're going to see this OP show up here again to respond?

ZERO!
To be fair, although this is the first time the OP has posted, she registered with the forum about 14 months ago, so she did not register just to post her review of Service Sleuth.

I think it's great that the OP will no longer work for Service Sleuth - more opportunity for me! Service Sleuth is a really great company. I've never even felt they require tremendously detailed reports. I think their editors are not very demanding and I like working with them. OP, why tell others not to work for a company simply because it didn't work out well for you?
Since it seems that she posted under her real name and MSCs are on this board, hopefully posting this was worth it to her......That being said, I've never had a problem with them and will continue to shop for them since they have one of my favorite shops for entertainment!

I don't shop many shops for Service Sleuth, wish there was more near me. I have never had any problems with editors, schedules or payments.
When you get upset with any of the companies, take the time to think more about it, why and if you made a mistake, wait 24 to 48 hours, take a deep breath than post.
I love them. I have been with them since 2002. They were one of my first companies that I signed up with. Now, 266 shops and almost 15 years later, I don't do nearly as much for them but still think they are great...I guess the only complaint would be that they do take a bit long to pay, but that's not really a big deal for me anymore like it was back when I first started shopping.
Never had a problem with them. Mostly use them for oil change and movie shops. They do require a fair amount of detail but once you get the narrative requirements down they are not difficult to complete.
Anyone else noticed that there is a new DO NOT WORK FOR THIS COMPANY THEY ARE A CROCK OF ... forum post daily this month? I'm new to to forum, although not necessarily new to shopping and I have picked up on this rather quickly. -_- It's been my experience that 9 out of 10 times it's the newbies screw up and not the company. Of course, occasionally the company or a scheduler does make a mistake and try to cover those tracks....

It's been an ongoing thing for years, which is why so many people in the forum who have been around for awhile tend to not give it much credibility. Especially when the person posting doesn't give the full details about what happened.
I never had a problem with them either. The only "snarky" editor's comment that was given to me for feedback was to write unique comments in my own words in the comments section.

Maybe these type of posts are an attempt to cut down on the competition. Scare shoppers away so the poster has a better shot at getting assignments? We need to continue to post our good experiences to counteract this.

Nah, I think it's disgruntled newbies mostly who screwed up the shop and didn't get paid.
I have to admit it's probably not a conspiracy. However on the other hand, maybe the Russians are trying to hack our forum....

Yes, I just learned this the hard way...

You have piqued my interest. Which company caught you out?

I have never had a problem with SS in 6 years except one time...(it was 50% my fault for not catching the cancellation) but their response was even more surprising.....I say no more on this...tongue sticking out smiley I will say I like them and always get paid. Sometimes stuff happens in life that affects your perception of them (or any MSC) but you get over it and move on. smiling smiley
A lot of MSCs read this forum, but there is only one (MSC owner) I know of who has actually deactivated shoppers for posting things that he didn't like.
I have not shopped for Service Sleuth. Just checked my list and I am not signed up with them. In keeping with my promise to myself, I will research them and decide if they have shops for me. Thanks, Sarah.
"Decide if they have shops for you?"

You do realize what they have today will be different tomorrow as in ALL companies...
good luck with that wait and see attitude!
