Good company(s) for central Texas?

I'm just getting started with MS, have done a couple of shops in Killeen and Austin. I'm finding there are so many MSCs, I can't apply at all of them, and many don't have any listings for this area at all. Can anyone suggest specific companies for central Texas (Austin/RoundRock/Georgetown, Temple, Killeen, Waco, Marble Falls)?

It really doesn't take that long to apply with companies. Think of it as an investment in ykour business. If you spend 15-30 minutes a day for a month you can probably be signed up with well over 100 companies. Windows will probably help you fill out the forms since they are very repetitive. If asked for a writing sample, cut and paste the same writing sample for all the companies. You may be asked to take tests with some companies before you get assignments, but you can do that later if/when you figure out if the assignments are what you want. Another rason for applying with a lot of companies is that there is a lot of competition for assignments in the area you are talking about, so, unless you are signed up with a lot of companies, and unless yu jump on the assignments the minute they are posted, you won't have much luck.
Just because there are no listings in the last month of the quarter/year does not mean that there weren't many listings throughout the year. And, many retail outlet don't want shops during the Christmas rush, for several reasons. The above post is the best advice you will get, IMHO.

RBG (reality based groups) is excellent. They pay on time. If you're willing to set up direct deposit they pay on the 10th or earler. Maritz is good. Make sure you ask if it's a mystery or a mystery/reveal. You can't qualify for both with the same company. Mystery/reveal pays more but I don't know the rotation.

Look up Kern scheduling, they have shops in our area and quite a few pay well. They schedule for MSC's but all you need to do is apply with the MSC when the shop is tentatively assigned.

This is the wrong time of year to hope for a ton of assignments. The only thing I'm getting emails is for restaurants. Most of the good stuff was jumped on without bonuses.

Not to be a downer, but next month will be much of the same.

Signing up with as many companies possible is a good thing. Corporations switch MSC's and the only way you'll find out who represent them is by signing up with a massive amount of companies.

Oh wow - a fellow shopper in my area! I've never seen one other than me so nice to meet you! I use a variety of companies and once you get started look around on the forum and see what loooks appealing. I've been known to email a scheduler for Texas and let them know I'm interested and will travel within reason. I work full time so I don't do many shops weekdays. I wish we could exchange contact info cause I'd love to meet a fellow mystery shopper in person! I'm based in Killeen but do travel to other cities if the time and money is right.
You can PM each other through this forum, donchaknow?

Just click on the shopper name in the beginning of the post, click on profile, then "send private message".

I find it fun to meet other shoppers, too.

In fact, one referred me for $150 job last week, that she didn't feel she could complete. It's a shop I never would have even considered applying for, and I wasn't signed up with the company, either.
