hi what are you getting paid for elsewhere in south africa they are offering 10 dollars us to do a service station assesment but you must spend 2 dollars in the shop (unsure if you get that back )also if a assignment is far away from you does the pay rate escalate due to petrol/gas and time ...new to mystery shopping but i somehow am feeling im getting the short end of the stick here .Phoned the scheduler in south africa but is very vague ..will get r150 rands ..10 us dollars but you must spend 2 dollars in the shop and you must put in r130 fuel 8.66 us ..the fuel you get back ...scheduler was shouting to somebody else in the office ..not sure whats going on should i be worried do i get confirmation in writing of pay rate or just accept their verbal aggreement which i feel is kind of low ..any input suggestions help would be greatly appreciated signed up ..ready to roll ...maybe depending on the feedback ihelp i recieve thanks wayne

Welcome to the wonderful world of mystery shopping. I can't comment on that particular assignment or company, but most of the time the fee you see is what you get; there's nothing extra for travel. That is something you need to negotiate with the mystery shopping company.

Everybody starts out by taking lower paying assignments. Don't expect to make big money right away, but also don't be discouraged. Typically the higher paying assignments and bonuses come after you have gained experience and established relationships with these mystery shop companies.

And to answer your last question...yes, always try to get things in writing. Lots of stories on this forum about disappearing bonuses given over the phone.
