New ath Rotations

ath sent out an email today stating that they now have a six month rotation for account opening shops.

Thoughts?

Crazy. I worked for them, opened 3 accounts in 2 months = $300 total pay.
Now I just open accounts for a bonus that the banks provide, easier than opening accounts for mystery shop company, no paper work. I opened a checking account for $300, and a then another bank checking account for $150. Google Doctor of credit, he lists banks that offer these bonus to open accounts and you can just open and close after a few months. I also look for cash rewards points to open a credit card. ATH paid me 100 to open a credit card but I just got a Barclays arrival plus card no fee and I get 450 $ credit against travel if I spend 3000 in the first 3 months. sounds like a better deal to me and no report needed.

I did my very first shop for them today and the inquiry I made for a line of credit... the store doesn't use that bank. The clerk looked at me like I was crazy, asked two other associates about the credit bank I mentioned, and then gave me all the info he had on the bank they actually use. I submitted everything as it happened. We shall see. It was odd. The shop was good, but they didn't use the bank... for instance... (These are made up) I was supposed to ask about the (bank client name removed) application, but they said they didn't use that bank and only used BB&T.. Not the actual banks, of course!

jimmyd, please remove the client names from your post.

clinen, that may be the point of the shop, to see who the store actually uses for financing, and what they offer. I hope it's accepted.

I've shopped for ATH and really like them ... but have always hesitated to do the open a saving or checking account. Any advice? Always worried about fees or closing the accounts!
To keep from getting outed as a shopper, I would guess. Some banks ask for an ID even before seeing a banker, and the banker then asks why you closed out your previous account(s) with them. perhaps this raises an alarm.

Ask before the account is opened. Ask about fees, closing the account early, and how the maintenance fees are determined. I think ath suggests this in their guidelines.
I keep my savings accounts all open until ATH stops shopping them. Never had a problem opening or closing them. Each bank has their own amount of time when you can shop. It is not ATH who makes these requirements. The account opening shops could vary from bank to bank. You wouldn't be opening an account every six months anyway. Most banks do not have fees for savings accounts. I just let them sit until I have a shop with them. When ATH doesn't shop them anymore I close them.
Before you do the shop, check the website of the bank. That will tell you ways to avoid the fees. Also, when you open the account, ask the banker how long you will need to fund the account. This will give you the "free" window. It's typically 60 days.

Shopper8, I open an account with my bank (non shopped), which can be less than every six months. I open checking or savings accounts as needed.

The client sets the requirements, and ath passes them on to the shoppers.
