Market Force Penalty System

I've been shopping for them since Shop'n Chek joined them, however long that is, and I know I've made more than 3 errors. Still, every month they call me to do the shops nobody else wants and give me the dollars I ask for to do them. I can't complain about a penalty system I've never noticed.

Time for a cocktail! Nothing personal, not about anyone , just what is this about?

Has anyone been deactivated because a family member was? My husband, son, and I all shopped for MF - until about a month ago. Due to age and gender we had different shops. For some reason after scheduling a shop he was called about, my husband got an e-mail ending the relationship and he had no shops posted. Unfortunately, MF also deactivated my son and me within a few hours of my husband. I thought we were each independent contractors, but got booted as a family. Thought it odd. No communication to this day with me or my son as to "ending our relationship."
Yes. This has been discussed here on the forum many times. When MF deactivates a shopper, often they also deactivate that shopper's family members. It seems to depend on the reason for deactivation. It's very common when MF believes the shopper may have done something fraudulent. MF appears to believe that a deactivated shopper may have access to their company and their website through his family members, so they deactivate the whole family to protect themselves.
I've had to reschedule and cancel quite a few MF shops and it has not yet affected me that I can tell. I have been seeing mostly the same shops I always have, except for a few where apparently the client has quit MF (I have seen some of the same clients' shops pop up at other MSCs).

I don't shop with MF very often anymore, so it's hard to tell if they aren't offering me as many shops as I could be getting as I find it difficult to keep up with what's on the board every week there.

You and Sybil2--I'm surprised you both haven't bought your $500,000 house yet with your MSing windfall.

How could you possibly know that they don't live in a $500,000 house? My house is worth more than that.
The tax office has an inflated sense of what my place is worth since I'm 0.8 miles from a "University" campus and it's apparently "convenient". 0_o

I like MF for my area. I get a few good make-an-offers for $20-$25 and occasionally $50-$75 at the end of the month. It's been nice. I don't like to bite any hands that feed grinning smiley

HA! I spent the night at the Hampton Inn at that University last year. Beautiful area!

Can't beat the mountains, rivers, cow pastures, and the old farms for a view when driving through these areas. (:

Thanks, but I was lucky to be in the right place at the right time and got a career in disaster managment. I had been doing gas station audits for Maritz. An F4 tornado struck, and I was only 3 miles from where it touched down. I sheltered under a gas station's canopy and avoided the hail. Sirens were blaring. Death was in the air--because 7 people were tossed into the sky by the twister. I was down to $5--mystery shopping barely paid my bills. But I got a job in disaster recovery after the tornado, and now travel the country following storms, making $27.50/hour. Sadly, I find myself in a group of people that actually hope the hurricane strikes the major city and causes maximum damage. I have met people that made 100K+/year working on Katrina. They all dream of big storms and maximum mayhem.

[quote+=Sybil2] If this is true, why didn't you take a crowbar to your wallet and get a motel/hotel room for the night? You do realize that it is tax-deductible business expense, right?

Because when I did the shops it was the beginning of the month, and I didn't get paid by MF until the next month. On that night I had $50 in my wallet. So I slept the sleep of death south of Stratford TX on 287 SB with the howling wind, blowing snow in pitch darkness on the high prairie. I remember at 3am I was awakened by a cattle truck that parked for 30 minutes. Inside was a truckload of cattle on the way to Plainview and slaughter. The hooves rattled nervously on the metal floor of the cattle truck. After they left I'd reached rock bottom and waited out the blizzard in the cold. I'm sure other who have down the SW routes have similar stories or even better.[/quote]

You are missing your true calling. You should be writing Western Novels.
BTW I am not a big shopper for MF, but I seem to be the one they call when the others fall down on the job. I always help them out and they always give me generous fees for doing it. I made one mistake that I know of, during the first month of shopping, but they were very understanding about it. Great company, IMO.
I had a friend get deactivated because one Hedge Hog owner disputing her timing every time she did that store. MF would go back to her and have her re-tell them the timing from her notes. After this owner complained over and over, they hid all Hedge Hog shops from her so she couldn't do them - but she could still do other shops. She talked them into giving her Hedge Hog shops back and what did she do? She went right back to that same store, reported that it took 9 minutes to get her food, the owner complained AGAIN and she got deactivated. I told her to stay away from that store when she got them back, but NOOO!

Someone else I know had her Hedge Hog shops taken away - but she could still do other shops. After 13 months, they agreed to let her start doing them. They did tell her that three different shops had had questions come back from the owner/s and that three questions about your reporting will get the shops taken away.

And then, someone else I know cancelled five end of month highly bonused Hedge Hog shops in small towns around where she lives. She did not get Hedge Hog shops taken from her and she did not get deactivated. That was very confusing to me but it just happened last month so...

Oh, and recently, I was deactivated because I spend the winters down at the beach. I usually change my profile address so that the shops default to that location, plus the schedulers told me that it was easier for them. My 1099 was returned to them so they deactivated me. I asked what happened and they said that I change my address every few days so they deactivated me since they did not know where I was. I was at the beach for four months. But, after I explained what happened, they reactivated me. Some MSPs offer the opportunity to put in several alternate locations where you go often. For me, that would be South Padre Island, TX and our farm in Stratford, OK. Marketforce said that a lot of people travel and change their location. Maybe they will add in alternate locations.
Trying to think of a nice way to say this...don't judge others on how they spend their money. I'm plum broke right because I'm paying for PT and my taxes. Pulling my hamstring and not knowing how the taxes work in another state got expensive. But that is temporary.
Wow, quite an exhausting thread. I like MF and work with them every month for something or another, I've never had any problems with them. I didn't even realize they had this punishment system in place. Most MSC's have been really accommodating the past few weeks while I have been very ill and in & out of the hospital. I ended up having to cancel about 5 shops that I just could not do even when offered to reschedule. I felt awful. I sure hope that none of them hold this against me. I guess now I will see.
