Payment Bounced from NSS (UPDATE--they are responding)

I just checked my bank account and the check i deposited from NSS for December shops was returned! Has this happened to anyone else? I have also tried logging into NSS and have not been able to. I sent an email to Payroll. I plan to call in a few hours. THANK YOU NSS FOR RESPONDING! To other shoppers, I have never had a problem with this company and they are looking into the situation (communicating).

Keep in mind they are on the west coast and you won't be able to get anyone on the phone until around noon EST. How very odd your check was returned. Mine wasn't. I haven't tried logging in this morning but last night I submitted two shops with no problem.

I've recently started doing shops for them, so I have no experience with payment concerns, but right now I'm unable to login either. I just checked a few minutes ago after reading your post. It just has a "waiting..." message at the bottom of my browser.

I hope they are not out of business!!!

Hmmm. I've got a shop with them this weekend too!
I have never had a problem until this month. The portal said the check was mailed Feb. 4th and did not arrive until Feb 15th. Now, it has bounced. I am not happy at all. Warning to others....I would not do any shops until you know you will be paid! I am out money for a pizza I did not want or need (I did it merely for the bonus) and a really ugly Christmas ornament AND $19 for return check fee!
Yep mine was returned, as well! I'm concerned because I've just recently done a bunch of shops for them...sure hope i don't get screwed on those. I'll be calling later after they open.

At least the website seems to be running as normal. I was able to log in and view all sections of the website. I'm hoping, hoping, hoping that it was a payroll glitch on their part and that they'll take care of it. While ultimately I want to receive payment for my completed shops, I would like to see them cover the returned deposit fee, as well. Mine wasn't as bad as yours, but $7 is $7! I'd rather they cover it than me having to call my bank and ask them to waive it. Fingers crossed!
That is terrible and no way to run a business, MSC or not! The more stories I read, the more off-putting all of this is becoming.

Did you mean the more stories of NSS or just in general? If there are more stories of NSS, then I'm canceling my shops ASAP with them!!!!!!

No way would I risk bouncing a check and having to pay the fee for that and not know if NSS is still in business or not and going to pay me (and the bounce fee). sad smiley

I'm glad you guys shared, because I have TWO scheduled assignments with them and am very much thinking of canceling now.
I just spoke with Julian at NSS. He said that there had been several calls and emails to the help desk regarding bounced checks. He has no idea when someone with payroll/accounting will be in. I really hope they will do the right thing and reissue checks promptly and include bank fees.

I spoke with my usual scheduler and he was very surprised by this. He said the owner was there and that he would check with them and get back to me. I'll update when i hear something.
This is obviously a cash flow issue, and it is coming from a weak company financially-speaking. There is NO way this should happen if the company has even the barest financial wherewithal....the owners can always provide a bridge loan or a cash infusion to cover cash flow issues....and not knowing that these issues are coming up is inexcusable. Ten foot pole time.
HYPOTHETICALLY, if someone had a bunch of shops lined up with NSS and you heard this type of news, then would you quickly cancel all your shops with them?

Hypothetically, if this company is having cash flow problems and word gets out to shoppers with current assignments and those shoppers cancel their shops, then that could cause a domino effect with them not generating enough income to pay off older fees and bounced check fees.
I have never had an issue with them until now. If I had shops scheduled, I would wait to see how quickly this is resolved before I jumped ship.

I've already performed a shop with them, though. I'd be piling on more shops and risk having all those checks bounce on top of being out the shop cost $ in the meantime.

Does anyone know how to cancel on the website? I don't see a cancel button.

I can't say that I blame you. I don't think you can cancel on their website. You can send an email.
My Check bounced as well. I was told there was a glitch in the system as per the owner quote and to redeposit the check. No way will I redeposit it to be charge another NSF fee.

Are they refunding you the NSF fees?
Hello all!

We're currently investigating this matter to determine why some of you have had this experience. We have had fraud issues hit and freeze our account in the past, and had to work out the issue with our bank. We are in no way closing. They said yes but if they have no funds how will they? I've been giving the runaround for 3 months on my payments. I was blamed in the past for the delays in payment so this new excuse amazes me. If I don't get paid I'm either filing a smalls claims action or filing a fraud report with the police.
