How to get your first shop with Data Quest

I have applied many times for a bar shop that requires that you or your guest are 21-29 years old. I qualify for this but am never selected. Any advice? I don't know how to get my foot in the door. Is this "normal" for them? Unlike Coyle, there are no "lower" shops to do first.

I am in your shoes. I did apply for several shops over last few months. If I do not hear from them I assume they have someone they know to do the shop. They have communicated via email several times that they gave the shop to someone else, maybe once or twice they did not and I was just waiting to hear from them. Out of the blue they did approve me for a shop back in December but then they said the client canceled.
They do have "lower" shops. I've done a liquor store shop for them and I applied when I was new to their company. Try to get one of those if you are in the area where they are available.

Once you did that shop, did you have success getting other shops with them? I have only seen restaurants/bars and hotel shops so far.
I never had a problem getting my foot in the door with this MSC. My first assignment with them was a 5-star oceanside resort. It was a lot of hard work but I followed the guidelines to a "T" and I got a "10" which opened the door for more shops.

It has been awhile but does the application process for this MSC require a writing sample? If it does, that may be your downfall to getting your foot in the door.

Good point...I'll check into that!
Not this MSC but I had a similar experience with a different company. I emailed the schedule and told them that I was interested in doing xyz shop but when I look on the boards someone else has either snatched them up or it's been assigned to another shopper that applied. I asked the scheduler if they could keep me in mind for next month's shop. The scheduler was super responsive and told me the shops go quickly but they could schedule me for March if I wanted. Welp, I took the offer and was scheduled for the shop in March.

Great idea!
I've done a few shops for them and really enjoyed them. The pay is quite good so perhaps there is a lot of demand for their assignments. Note that their monthly emails state that they "staff a Full Time Field Investigator whose assignments are included in this blast email. Should you apply for a shop and receive no acceptance or cancellation email, this is due to it being for the Field Investigator."

Same here. I've only done hotel shops for them and have only once not gotten a shop I requested, and that was simply because I requested two hotels in the same area and only got one of them.

Hi AnneAshely, I'm Amanda from Data Quest, and I manage our Survey Services (mystery shopping) Division. We're definitely always on the look out for new auditors who qualify for these specific audits. If you'd like, you can email me directly at AReynolds@DataQuestLTD.com with your contact information, and I can review your profile to make sure everything is set up correctly, and hopefully get you started with some audits. I know that this particular client orders audits at different locations each month, so if we don't have anything in your area this month, we'll at least have you in the loop the next time something does become available.
Hi NinS, This is Amanda from Data Quest, I'm not sure why our scheduling email would have mentioned we use a full time field investigator, and that employing someone like this would cut down on audits available to others. I apologize for this as it's not the case! I can tell you that we have a large database of active auditors, and that some of our audits (hotels, fine dining, entertainment, etc.) are in high demand. This means that it can be challenging to "get your foot in the door", but please know that we do try to work with as many different auditors as possible each month. Some tips to help increase your odds of being scheduled include: applying for audits as soon as you see them posted, giving an exact date or small range of dates you can do the audit, reading the information about the audit so you're aware of the date/time parameters and any other special requirements. If you're scheduled for an audit some things we find extra helpful are: not rescheduling or canceling on an audit you've been set up to do, following instructions when completing the audit, formatting your report per our report writing guidelines and submitting the report on time!
