I didn't receive a letter but I did receive an email.
I get lots of emails from them. I've never received any letters, though.
A friend received the letter. It stated that they accidentally sent a copy of their 1099 to another shopper. The letter included information that they gathered on their end, such as dates. They offered said friend a year worth of credit monitoring services since the 1099 included name, address, and social security number.
AG, that is the letter I received. I wondered how wide spread it was.

Isn't that highly unprofessional of the MSC???? how can they send the 1099 to someone else?
The letter didn't state how it happened, just when EPMS found out about it on their end and the steps they've taken to rectify the problem. What's disturbing is that the letter just arrived and they claimed to have known about it the entire month of february. Although my friend already monitors their credit, it's still seems a bit unprofessional to wait an entire month to tell someone to take a look at their credit. This is the stuff class action attorneys dream of. I recently received a few grand from one because a doctor's office that I was referred to a few years back threw away paperwork that contained personal information without shredding it. We were told about this and one of the patients took it upon themselves to hire an attorney. There were only around 50 patients affected by this.

One would think that this information is important enough to have been mentioned in the original post. Not sure why the OP decided to play the "guessing game" instead. Not very professional.
No, they didn't say how it happened, but I'm sure a month later, it doesn't matter.
That's pretty good to receive a a few thousand from a class action lawsuit! I was inactively involved in a few (big law firm contacted me about gym/car rental/bank/cereal) a I received a check for $9-$25 months later.

And here I thought it was me who was so special. The lag time was what pissed me off. They knew on February 3, the letter was dated February 28 but didn't arrive until five or six days later. It doesn't take 25 days to prepare a letter nor does it usually take mail more than two days to reach me. The letter itself didn't contain any sensitive information so they could have sent emails.

Nope. I just got mine on Monday, March 6. So they waited 25 days to write the damn thing and probably a few more before mailing. Nice to know they didn't think it was important enough to let us know sooner.

I received the same thing. They attached my 1099 to another shoppers.
I belong to The Special Kids Club, as well. <sighs>
So they released a LOT of numbers not just one person..... not cool!
