Mostly good experiences. The clients typically want to know if the location/owner is set up to comply with regulations governing security for credit score information. I have had a few, over many years, where that was clearly not the case.

Based in MD, near DC
Shopping from the Carolinas to New York
Have video cam; will travel

Poor customer service? Don't get mad; get video.
All but one good experiences. Half were in a residential home, the other were in a business and exactly as wales described.

The one that went minorly sideways was when the Operations Manager was very unaccommodating. She treated me like I kicked her cat in the face.

I'm doing one this afternoon. It has been a year since I did my first onsite inspection. I tend to stick with the property inspections because you don't have to deal with appointments and such. I'm a bit anxious. I keep telling myself, he'll never notice I am nervous....cause he was all over the place during the phone call. He booked me a week out, to prepare I'm guessing. Luckily it's an office building. I'm hesitant to do private home inspections. I know they should be safe....but, it just has that Craiglist feel to it, so I avoid.

Shopping up and down the Colorado Rocky Mountain front range.
@Comystery...I agree, home inspections are shady, now this guy has my phone# and could easily get my address. He stated the business was totally different than I was sent out for....I don't mind office bldg., but they didn't tell me, nor did they know it was a home. He had no business cards or license. I feel it was a bit of trickery to get you to do the job...if only I knew then what I know now.....blah blah blah!!! Who says you know it all after 10 years of shopping. There may be one member that knows it all, but for most of us, we're learning new things daily.

Irene, download Sideline to give you a new number that you can use solely for shops. Google Voice is also an option, so is Burner App.

Good news, I wrote and told them about this guy and his house (business), they just wrote back and said I don't have to go back and take that picture, the report is accepted.

My experience so far doing these has been great. My very first shop was for an older woman who needed to be able to get information for a few rentals she bought. She was so nervous and stressed out because I was about 10 minutes early and she hadn't gotten the last room vacuumed. It was so easy and she was so nervous and stressed about the carpet!

My second one, I had to take some covert photos. My third one, I met with a church group and talked to several pastors during my visit. I had to make sure they were actually set up for disaster relief. My fourth was at a corporate bank. I had to be buzzed in, escorted, wear a name tag, and everything was highly secure. That being said, the staff were excellent and made every effort to get me the photos I need; even moving computers and people out of the way. My last half dozen or so have gone well too.

I did one two days ago for a Private Investigator. He was trying to get approved so he could accept backgrounds and have the data in his home office. He was handling court documents and working with a lawyer on serving papers as well. He had been using a pay-as-you go type of software for backgrounds and wanted TransUnion status. He was also a former police officer. The home had security cameras, a digital alarm pad, multiple security features, safes, wall safes, and there were at least 60 ammunition cans in various places along with weapons such as knives, rifles, shotguns, and pistols. It's typical here to see such in Kentucky, Virginia, West Virginia and the surrounding areas. I frequently open and concealed carry myself. But it was sure interesting. I felt at ease the entire time. Guy was chill, down to earth, and similar in age to myself. He was also trying to get approval for a transcriptionist of his recordings for court.

I've had good experiences so far. I've only done a few corporate/business building locations. It seems the majority are for in-home type visits. I understand how this can make people uncomfortable and how we never know what the home will look like.

I love doing business inspections and try to grab all the ones posted. I've been doing them for the past few years and in total I suspect I've done about 5 to 600 since I started in June 2012. I've done a number of them in residences as there are a lot of small, home-based businesses, i.e. property management, for instance. I have on occasion had to go back to get a pic because the one I took was not a good one. I now make sure I take at least two pictures of everything. I've also found that using the flash will often improve the pic of the locks on the doors. I have had few problems with doing them as for the most part the people are very willing to assist as they need and want the service that requested the inspection. Today was a first for me as it was a "no show." And the contact had requested (and I did) that I contact him about an hour before I was due to meet with him. Since I went and he did not show, I at least will get paid $12. Since I think the contact genuinely planned on meeting with me, I always worry that maybe something happened to him.

Are there other companies? Someone in my area beats me to most and its not worth doing one.
The only others I've ever seen from different companies were just an occasional posting. In those case the assignments always paid much better and were much easier to complete. May be the reason Trendsource felt the need to get them all locked up, LOL.
