Mystery Shoppers Inc

This company has owed me since January and never answers inquires regarding pay. I'm going to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and encourage anyone else who they stiffed or slow paid to do the same. The BBB is a good place for people who hire them to know how they treat people who work hard for their company---NOT OK!

I have always been paid by this company and have done about 75 shops. I don't remember the pay structure for this company. I wonder if your shop was not accepted?
The shops were both accepted and I got a 10 on one and 9 on the other.

After a number of attempts to contact them using Mystery Shopper Inquiry on their site, I used the Customer Inquiry email on their site today. I told them I'm tired of playing games and I'm going to contact the BBB. Low and behold I got a response within 5 minutes saying, "The checks in the mail". We'll see if that is true.
It is only March 11. Just what are their payment terms and how late are they? If they have terms of 45, 60 or 90 days they aren't late yet so filing a complaint is wrong at this point. It doesn't matter how slow they are to pay as long as it is within their stated terms.

Equal rights for others does not mean fewer rights for you. It's not pie.

The contract I signed through isecretshop said they pay within 30 days of shop date. They are more than are more than a month late. They do have a number of late pay complaints. You may think it's OK to get paid late---I don't. I'm expected to turn the report in within hours of the shop and I expect to be paid as agreed. They don't pay me penalties when they are late to pay--but they sure expect lighting speed reporting. It has to go both ways.
And you got that from my post just where exactly? Do whatever you want, I could not care less.

Actually, unless you signed a different contract through isecretshop than the one I signed (and which is currently available on their website), the contract says MSI prepares and mails a check at the end of the month following the month in which the work was performed, meaning if you performed a shop in January, they would create a check February 28 and mail it. Mail time might take 7-14 days.

Quote from the ICA:

"MSI currently disburses a client’s payment for any completed project at the end of the month following the month in which the project is completed, and all payments are issued by check and sent via the USPS."

ALSO - and very important, you won't get paid until you have provided a W4 to MSI showing your SS# or EIN. Since that tax information is not entered on the isecretshop site, it must be faxed or emailed directly to the company. Have you done that?

Quote from isecretshop Provider Contracts and Polcies:

"In order to complete a shop for a Mystery Shopping Provider (MSP), you must digitially approve their contract.

In order to be paid by an MSP in the United States you will need to provide tax information required by the IRS. You can wait to provide this until after you have done a shop or spoken with the MSP. You can also do this by phone by calling the MSP directly.

You will need to provide your tax information to each MSP individually. iSecretShop does not collect or share your tax information between MSPs. We will, however, archive your photo identification so you do not need to resubmit it to each MSP."
I've found that when it gets to a point where you have to mention the BBB, companies pay real attention after that point. Any good company wants nothing to do with the BBB, ever, unless they're about to go under.

The BBB is an inappropriate place for you to lodge a complaint. The BBB is concerned about entities screwing their customers. You are not the MSC's customer. The MSC is your customer. The BBB has no more interest in your complaint against the MSC than they would have, say, with a fast food joint complaining about you for taking extra napkins with when you purchase a burger.

If you have a complaint against an MSC for non-payment, then file a bad report with a credit bureau.
The BBB does get involved. I've seen complaints by shoppers against the MSC and they go back and forth. I use the BBB to screen out lousy MSC.
I've been shopping for this company for years. I have always been paid. If they say the check's in the mail, then it probably is.
I've always gotten paid for jobs thru ISS> but isn't ISS the platform, and not the MSC?

Yes, the company the OP is writing about is Mystery Shoppers Inc., which is one of several mystery shopping companies that uses the isecretshop platform.
Threatening them that you are going to file with the BBB might get you less shops with that particular company. Just sayin'....tongue sticking out smiley
I agree. I did two very remote shops for them back in late 2016, and they only paid one....yet I know they accepted and used the other! Yikes! Time for BBB?

How exactly do you know that they used the report for which they did not pay you?
Wow, I'm sorry to hear about your missing payment. There is no excuse for any place of business to ignore their clients. Anyway, I've personally had success in receiving payments for my MS, but I recently discovered that Cirrus Mktg. never payed me for a shop in October. They too won't return emails, and have a long turnaround for pmt. But not 6 months! I reached out to a scheduler for Cirrus, but she excused it as not long enough time passing. If anyone here knows a contact, I would greatly appreciate it. BTW, got a great grade on the shop, for what that's worth!

She's pretty responsive:

I too have had payment issues with Cirrus, but when I emailed Bristin, I received a response from someone else stating that Bristin is out. That individual hasn't emailed me back, and I've left voicemail messages about missing 2015 payments with no response. I think something is going on with the company

@Mom knows, just a comment. We mystery shoppers are not clients of the mystery shopping companies. The clients of the mystery shopping companies are the companies who contract with them to perform mystery shopping evaluations and provide reports to them. Mystery shoppers are independent contractors. The mystery shopping companies are actually OUR clients. Of course, that does not excuse the lack of response from our customers when we contact them about the contracted work we have performed for them.

I finally found mhoward@cirrusmktg.com and she took care of my payment right away. I received it the same day, so send her your info through email
