GapBusters

Hi all,

I just received an email from GapBusters Worldwide stating they are doing business in the United States again and invited me to reactive my account. Word of caution to others who receive emails from them. In 2014, they packed up operations in the States and moved the HQ to Malaysia. GBW owed shoppers fees that were never paid. They still owe me $50 from three years ago. I sent email after email and received no response. They have a new site up and going, but of course there is no HQ contact information. It is an automated flow email inquiry only.

Hmmm good info. I believe I tried to apply with them multiple times but could not get in the door. I shrugged them off.

AFAIK, their operations were overseas long before 2014. I always dealt with schedulers in either Australia or Malaysia back in 2012 and 2013.

Never try to teach a pig to sing. It's a waste of your time and it really annoys the pig.
Love the Aussie schedulers, but I received a call from someone last week that I could barely understand. It was not an Aussie accent.

Oh, btw, years ago they neglected to pay me a bonus of $75 on one or two shops. Email after email brought no resolution. One time a year later they called from Australia in desparate need of a shop. I told them the story of the missing bonuses and said I would only do it if they paid the bonuses first. I had the money pronto. So, you can bargain to get the money owed if they call.

Years ago when the schedulers were in Australia they called me often and offered me bonuses. I never had any problem getting paid including the bonuses. Then one day all the Australian crew were missing in action and a new group started to call. Shortly after that I got the letter of doom...asking me not to darken their doorstep again. Somehow I felt they linked me to the Aussie guys who gave me bonuses....Maybe it was coincidence but it always felt a little odd to me. I do miss those Aussies. They were always nice and polite and a cute accent. It's been years so maybe they will forgive me for having spoken to the Aussies and take me back.

The better business bureau said this company was closed and would not respond to their letters. I'm leery of giving them my bank info at this point!
I can only speak for myself but I could not work for a company that treated me that way in the past. They would have to pay everyone they owned money for in the past to start. Then they would have to be generous with new shops and pay on a extra timely basis to prove themselves. Other than that I would stay away from them. Why go with a questionable company, it isn't worth the hassle.
That's so strange that you said they've closed up shop in US since 2014. I've worked with them several times in 2016, and am still seeing car shops on the job board. I've never had problems with them paying. I'm only hesitant to shop with them because their dining shops only reimburse for the meal, and not for taxes and tips.
How is it that a company can not pay people and not get sued (even if class action)?

How are they able to get away with this and still be running?
I get emails all the time from them about a shop in Chicago which was about 150 miles from my old address. I have updated it to my new one that is 750 miles away and still get the emails. Now I really don't want to do it!
I did their dealership months ago with bonus, they paid me and were very nice. I since get text's and emails for two of their jobs here in the states. Seems they re o.k. now....although i had to tell them not to text me, I wouldn't do the same dealership over and over. They must use different schedulers and one did call from Malaysia. This month nothing.

Live consciously....
