Massive email blasts every 15 minutes is insane from schedulers

I know you can stop to receive email blasts, but some offers are sent that are not in shop logs when you log on. I can list numerous offenders- schedulers and companies, that blast so many emails for the same shops multiple times per hour, leading up to over 20 per day. Do they think we are children and are not responsible to check the job boards for work. Reminders are one thing, but these schedulers need to assess their email marketing software blasts. Two of the companies that are the worst are Bare International SeeLevel and A Closer Look.

Bare International and See Level are actually two different companies.

Emails can be irritating, but it takes me less time to delete those of no interest than to log in to 150 job boards each day or even once per week. I get 99% of my work from emails. If you prefer checking the boards, while you are logged in just turn off your email notifications.

I send all those kinds of 'blasts' to my span folder so my cell phone doesn't ding all the time. Then I can check the spam folder when I want. Every person has their own style of handling these emails. Some rely on them.
Offenders? It's just a part of life with some companies. There are ways to quell the pain.

I don't mind the many emails as I have a nice "delete" button. What does bother me is when I get multiple emails in a day about a specific shop and I apply for it. However, the scheduler doesn't schedule me - or anybody else. If I had every flaked on a shop or had one rejected, I would understand, but... really?

7star, bear in mind when you send emails to your spam folder then delete from there you adversely impact all of us. It is best to have them automatically sent to another folder.

You can also use the settings on your phone to turn off audible notifications. I have four email accounts with one being dedicated to my mystery shopping business. Notifications can be turned on/off or modified for each one individually.

I didn't know forwarding to spam is going to affect you ? I would think the MSC anticipate the emails being marked as spam by some shoppers since they send a blast. Thus I wouldn't think they care. In any case I looked into how I can have email deposited automatically into a new folder in gmail and couldn't figure out how.
Email providers track spam, eventually blocking senders. I don't use Gmail, but have heard others mention filters to either send them directly to trash or to a designated folder to be read later.

Right. There is a threshold percentage of how mamy emails are marked as spam. So if jobs@msc.com sends out 10,000 emails that go to gmail addresses, once a particular percentage of those emails get marked as spam, gmail starts putting all of them in spam folders. So now not only do yours go to a spam folder, but every gmail account that receives email from that account also sends it to spam.

A fast way to delete: When I delete my E-mail(s), I just hold the shift key down while clicking on the delete icon. A dialogue box pops up asking if I want to delete the E-mail(s). Click "yes" and they go straight to the ether without stopping in the recycle bin.

Works for me
There is only one company out of about 35 that I'm signed up with that blasts me with dozens of shops that are all the exact same type. Instead of grouping them into one email, they blast each location separately. Every free email provider gives you free filters. This particular provider has a threat attached to if you wish to opt out of their emails -- they will remove you as a shopper. So to get around this, I simply filtered the keyword that was in the 40+ emails I would get daily from them, that way I still get 100% of the rest of their emails which are actually pretty useful stuff. So, for example, if all of them were for a company called "ABC" I would set a filter that would filter that word ONLY from their email address, that way other emails with that company name (or keyword) aren't filtered. Deleting means you still have to wake up to that mess every morning. Filtering ensures you don't. Good luck!

This actually weakens the overall usefulness of the SPAM button. If you agreed to receive emails from an organization, you should not be marking them as spam. Simply unsubscribe, or consider setting up filters so that you don't have to see as many of their emails. If you continue to mark emails like that as Spam, your reliability when you use that button will go down, and it may create headaches at the mystery shop company. I've had to deal with this (I've worked in IT) when people would mark legitimate emails they signed up for from our company as spam. Had to spend many hours on the phone with different email providers explaining that we aren't a spammer, and had to provide proof that they had requested to be on a mailing list. Wasted a whole day on that once.
SeeLevel is notorious. They seem to send me 15 emails for the same shop every hour.

Thefoxbox - if i could figure out how to filter a particular type of email in gmail i woiuld but they don't make it easy to figure out. For example one particular msc sends out emails almost every day seemingly saying 'help needed steakhouse shops.' I'm talking several emails a day sometimes. Then when they need someone urgently, they start incrementing the fee by $1 the next day, with a bunch of emails. Then the next day, the same thing with another $1 increment, and again the next day. Another company sends out a bunch of emails saying we need prople flying to san antonio to do airport shops. Each day i get emails for different locations. And that"s only 2 companies. So i don't want all these emails in my inbox notifying me with a ding sound, hence send to spam. The msc's have to take some responsibility for being reasonable about sending the emails and in the case of the steak shops, increasing by $1 daily. I know the schedulers want to make money too but have some common sense. Either call a good shopper and offer a deal or put it on the board with an offer i can't refuse. Don't nickel and dime me daily and annoy me with these emails.
On your Gmail page, go to Settings>Filters & Blocked Addresses>Create a new filter

I generally do all email from each company into it's separate labeled folder and auto archive it. That way I can click through the different companies to see new shops, info on current shops, and my past shops as well. I do this with all my email addresses. It's easy to find bank statements, tech support correspondence, and current bills as well.
Isashops - thanks for answer. Your suggedtion for me seems like a lot of work to maintain these folders. If i send to spam i can quickly skim through the folder several times during the day. 95% of it is junk and i can just let it sit in the folder and it'll drop off on its own, no maintenance required. I'm talking hundreds of emails in such a short period of time, not worth the time to save or archive.
How is it less time consuming sending them to spam or sending them all to another folder? You don't have to create a lot of them like Isashops. Then there is that option of simply turning off the sound notifications. Mine is off so no dings, just an indicator on the upper right hand corner of the app.

If they go to spam automatically, then i can just skim it and i don't have to individually delete it. The spam folder will delete it on its own schedule. If i send to another folder then i have to manually manage each email which is time consuming. The email ding is for my main folders which i want on so i don't miss important emails. This system works best for me.
I'm glad my email provider isn't gmail. I want MSC emails delivered.

Filters are not difficult to set up. You can create them while an email is open, even. Gmail makes it simple and it doesn't falsely label legitimate companies' emails as spam.

I noticed the job board here got blasted as well. Pages and pages of the same scheduler, same job, same wordy description. Separate posts for each town. Not necessary to clog up the job board like that, a bit inconsiderate and I was surprised it is allowed.
The msc could probably either write their own software or buy a package that finds shoppers within a xxx mile range of a shop and target those people instead of sending all those emails out. Just make it worthwhile to the shopper instead of some of the lowballing that goes on.
Lisa, I received 9 emails in one hour from one scheduler. I previously told her this was not a shop I was interested in, and asked if she could remove me from distribution. She said their system would not allow that.

I sent her to spam. Maybe the Higher Ups will realize the system is broken.

I don't deactivate myself because they have shops that I enjoy doing. Nine shops in one hour (and that was just one hour, not the entire day) is overkill.

In Gmail's inbox, just hit "more" up top and "Filtermessages like these". Then filter out any with a subject line you don't want to see.
My biggest "offender" is Amusement Advantage- 20+ emails a day for separate shops!

Kona Kathie
Yes I noticed just recently Amusement Advantage started doing that. I think it is a new scheduler. But these do not bother me as I can just read the subject line and delete all of them at once if I am not interested. The ones that really bother me are not the blasts but the countless emails that do not mention the location or any specific info about the shop in the subject line so I have to open them up to see if they are even close by...and sometimes I cannot tell what the heck the shop is without opening the website and looking for it.
Pertinent info in subject lines in all emails would be really appreciated.
Shoppersview credit union shops I get 20+ a day and it is for members only. I do not need the same shop 20 times because you can't fill it, ever. I used to do the few that would come thru for non-members but you have to open and read the whole email to find out, then they have rotation requirements for 6 months. argh. I am close to just shutting them off. I like the email blasts usually but prefer that they tell you what it is in the subject line because I get 100+ emails a day easily for ms. The madness must stop. HA HA.
