CS Pricing Audits-Ever Been Kicked Out of a Store?

I was asked if I was doing a survey, and since they aren't secret, and we are told we can say we are doing a pricing survey, I said yes. The clerk (I think it may have been the owner of the CS) told me to leave.

This is my first round, and I really want to do these because there is no reporting other than prices, but if I get kicked out I will have a hard time completing them. Has anyone else ever run into this kind of issue doing any kind of pricing audits?

I usually say I am shoping for someone else or sending info to my significant other to see which we should get etc. I never admit to doing a survey or audit. I have only been caught once and was told policy was no photos. I apologized and stopped taking pictures that visit. I usually have a good story, putting together a registy list, budgeting for my buisiness, consulting w a colleague or husband, checking nutritional info at the grocery store. I also try to break up big assignments into smaller visits and go different times.

I audit a grocery store weekly and can do 2000 items in two 1 hr trips.
It's my first time doing these, and the guidelines said that if you're asked, to say you're checking prices for an app called "Missions" which updates a shopping site. The man was outright hostile, so that approach didn't work. I like yours. The first store I did-the one right before this one-the cashier didn't say a word. I was in there 15 minutes, checked about 40 items, and left. Problem is I hit "skip" instead of "done," and now I have to go back.

Argh. Learning experiences. But I'm no quitter!!! I'll use your method, or a modified version, next time. Or I'll hit them in multiple stops.

Thanks for your answer. I appreciate it!!

Missions is tricky. I have had trouble submitting lists. Be sure to check again after hitting submit, as the feedback doesnt always let you advance and fully submit. You can try to take photos then sit in the parking lot and load prices in the app that way.
What is CS?

You guys are so funny! Maybe it's just me....I'm always ready with a cover story ("my group is planning a fundraiser; we're expecting 400 people"..)....but no one has ever said anything other than "you finding every thing you need, hon?"

Now been kicked out of three stores. One actually had to call the manager who very angrily on the phone told me to leave. Some stores seem to be owned by jerks.

Eh, it's usually not an issue. I did a total of 7 stops yesterday and 5 went just fine. The other two are the shop's problem, not mine...I think. I'm pretty sure I get paid just for showing up and being told I can't do the audit.
By CS, do you mean Convenience Store? Because I don't believe anyone would do their weekly grocery shopping or purchase items for an upcoming event at the gas station... a candy bar or soda, yes. But lots of items for an event? Doubtful and unrealistic. Would the menu be KitKats and Slushees?!

LMAO!

I did one for endcaps and the manager said I needed a LOA from corporate and that I would have to leave. This was in a "regular" store. I just started being more discreet at other locations and had no problems.
