NSS Payment Issues - READ THIS FIRST

Yes, I too took screen shots and have all of my photos, emails, etc. There was no one at NSS to receive those emails. No updates, most assuredly I can kiss that $700+ goodbye.
Have you considered filing a small claims case against NSS in your local jurisdiction? If no one responds to your claim, you'll receive a default judgment. Then you can have a lien placed against NSS assets. There must be bank accounts and office equipment remaining, even though the CEO is gone. For $700, it might be worth it to you.

Although NSS is out of business, we have been adhering to forum guidelines and not posting the name of any clients.

That said, it is not a surprise the client would be unconcerned. The client's contract was with NSS, not shoppers. They have no legal obligation. Even if the client had not paid and decided for whatever reason to reimburse shoppers, they don't have access to NSS records so no way to know which shoppers have real claims. At this point nobody even knows if the client received the shops for the last couple of month NSS was operating.

I often wonder who authorized monetary payments to NSS/expenses/debts and it's W-2 employees (after owners death) and how they forgot (?) to pay the shoppers... who earned the money that enabled that same money to eventually go into someone's paychecks and not ours? (assuming this is what happened) tongue sticking out smiley

Perhaps someone has a better explanation as to "where" the shoppers money went?
That's a good question. Who signed payroll checks, if anyone did, after the owner's passing. That's for them to deal with. They certainly assigned shops after the owner's passing to vendors, according to some people's testimony here. Unless the stockholders took extra money out there should be money to pay vendors. If there was misdeeds, hopefully it will come out in court and that money will be owed; getting it is another story.
I've been watching the thread but no action for months until your question. I have not heard anything. Anyone get anything from the company/lawyers etc.?

Not a peep from anyone. No response from the attorney's office.
I told in the past: I will write them (lost money from NSS) down for my 2017 return...

Shopping Eastern Pennsylvania since 2009
Nothing.....they are dead as are payments (my opinion only), have been waiting for response with no word, am owed $60.00.

Wow!! This was one of my favorite companies to work withsad smiley. Haven't worked with them for years but really enjoy them when I did. I was a regular shopper when they had grocery shops. I just hopped on the computer and ended up finding this link. Dang it! Bummer, Great schedulers too, They treated us like we were human, not a number. Someone always answered the phone right away. RIP

My tax preparer told me I could not write this down as a business loss or any other type of loss. She tried to explain why. I wish I could remember her explanation. (I initially was going to do Turbo Tax but had some difficult and complicated things to file). So, I did a major tax preparer. I think we are screwed in terms of getting our money back and I could not get it off my taxes as unpaid work. It's like "write it off in our heads" and forget about it.... Unless someone here knows a way to recoup our losses. sad smiley
Sunny, you deducted the expenses incurred for the shop such as mileage and product purchase, right? I think lost income is just that, lost. Expenses are not.

Yes. I did. Thanks! smiling smiley
I just got a notice of bankruptcy for NSS. Seems they have a court date figured out. Anyone else get this letter in the mail and know what our next steps are? Thanks.
A notice of bankruptcy (to me) would indicate that we are not getting anything. I did not get any letters in the mail yet about that, though.
I didn't get a bankruptcy letter...I take it as we won't get paid as that protects one from paying bills....I'm not expecting to get paid. My question is: why did you get a letter and I didn't?

Yes I got it too.

It clearly states what to do if you read the letter.
I got the bankruptcy letter today as well. I had not even realized that I didn't get paid for 3 shops that I was owed for. I shop several companies and didn't keep close track as I've never had problems with them over the past 5 years.

I got it too.

Just remember, almost anyone can file bankruptcy. It's what happens after the filing that matters. The Trustee had to delve deep into the financial aspects of what occurred months prior to the filing.
