Goodwin Hospitality

Horrible shop. Never again. Ugh. Not sure I'll get paid for it, almost don't care. Drug on forever, bad instructions, difficult to understand questions. My first shop with this MSC and will be sad if it's my last, I tried hard!

Mine was. I got notification today that mine was approved. Still not signing up for another ...
I just finished mine. The instructions on WebtoPDF don't produce a good document. I use Chrome instead and printed the email thread, then instead of sending it to a printer I save in PDF form. This produce a 3 page email thread that's totally readable and in the format they wanted. I also made sure to include the contracts that were attached. Maybe one of these two things are what got the shops rejected? I'm crossing my fingers mine gets approved.
I used Chrome too. I didn't print anything I saved everything to the desktop and "saved as" in PDF format. I saved everything to the desktop and uploaded from there. That wasn't the issue. Frankly, I don't know what the issue was, but using the steps given to me by one of my favorite shoppers on this thread, they reversed the decline. Yaaaay...because that was a time-consuming shop. You work for that $30.00!

I'm glad it turned out better for you because that would have been an awful lot of work to not be paid for!
As a long time shopper, I just finished attempting to do this shop. My shop was declined as well. The shop was done near the July 4th holiday week-end. The target was hardly available. The scheduler and her assistant was written to and called many times during this shop because of the target's unavailabilty. All emails that I could send were on time. The target was not available to finish the shop. It was time consuming and difficult. I wrote both Goodwin and the target so many times, I cannot even begin to count how many. I was finally told by e-mail that i would be paid half of the fee. Let us see if they keep their word. If not, I will never shop for them again.
Goodwin is good overall. Maybe just stay away from them for this kind of shop. You may want to try their other shops, they are much easier. They've always paid me on time.
Well at least you have a reason for the decline... Thank goodness they will pay you half, it is better than nothing.
This shop is just awful. We just picked the wrong shop to do. I think, like the other shoppers said, the in-person shops are probably fun and easier.
Thanks so much for your support. It is really appreciated. This is one of those never again shops.
Same exact thing happened to me, except they told me I didn't stay there long enough. I was there almost two hours! Not to mention the lengthy report I had to fill out. I don't have money to waste on bowling or alcohol (which are both required). Now I'm not getting reimbursed. The $35 I wasted to complete this shop is like a week's worth of groceries, gone. Or two weeks of gas, gone. Very scammy company. There are so many better ones out there. It's unethical not to pay people for work completed... especially if they've spent hours on it and even had to spend their own money to do the job. Wow. They have some nerve.

Goodwin hospitality also did not pay me for another shop I did because I refused to upload my driver's licence. Sorry, I'm not risking a hack so I can get my identity stolen. That one only paid $2 anyway... but the thing is, most of their shops don't pay much. I've found so many better companies... I recommend keeping away from this one.
That's what I'm saying! I've been going back and forth with someone from Goodwin and not getting anywhere. I worked 3-4 hours in total on this shop and am not getting paid! I had to pay $35 of my own money to work 3-4 hours for them!
I actually completed the bowling shop for them a few weeks ago. I ended up only making about $15.00 on it after the costs involved, but I had no problems with them regarding my report. I had a lot of fun and would jump on the chance to do it again.
ferro14, what was the reason for not accepting the shop.

I saw an earlier comment you made about not being paid for your time. As a business person rather than employee, you don't get paid just for your time. Your client, in this case Goodwin, will only pay you for a job completed correctly. Think of it by using a different type of business. You hire a painter to paint your living room white. They paint it purple. Do you pay the painter or not? If the painter tells you they spent 8 hours and you owe them for their time, what is your answer?

Equal rights for others does not mean fewer rights for you. It's not pie.

I feel your pain. That would piss me the hell off. Hang in there, though. Sometimes you win; sometimes you lose in this business. However, thankfully, you mostly win!
Mod note: Post removed as it breached the Forum guideline which states, "Do not reveal the clients of mystery shopping companies". Additionally, it is usually an ICA violation to name both the MSC and client.
gbarnes, was the MSC Goodwin? You named a client so I hope not since that would be a violation of your IC and the forum rules.
I had the same problem with my shop being declined because of the format. I asked if I could resend it and was told it was too late. My other shops for Goodwin went great!
Interesting-- I have done SO MANY of these shops, but we like to bowl. And drink and eat wings. So it's worth it. I remember my first one was really really stressful, but once you get the hang of it, it's much easier. They do pop up frequently, so if you enjoy bowling and so does a friend, then it can work.
If you file a report with the BBB and then try small claims court, you have a shot at getting your money back.

I did the $60 shop...

Submitted my report and got approved the next morning...

People who are having problems with them are doing something wrong...

Werd to Big Bird...
I just finished the easiest job ever, so, thanks Goodwin and ISS, easy peasy, like finding money.....yahoo.

Noob...,

First of all, I did NOTHING wrong and after a call to Goodwin and several emails they reevaluated my shop, accepted it--after the initial rejection--and paid me. I see that you are new to the forum so let me give you some advice: don't try to throw fellow mystery shoppers under the bus by making assumptions about their work. Sometimes mystery shopping companies are wrong and shady. However, you do have the companies that are great, and they value their shoppers. I don't know if you are a new shopper, but I am well-seasoned, and I know what I am talking about and what I am doing. I always try to be a quality shopper.

Go up to the beginning of the thread and read the post that gives you their contact number. I called that number and left a message with a gentleman, one of the head people. He had them contact me right away, resolve the issue, and I was paid later on. In the message, I told them that I was going to report them to MSPA, and you can also report this to iSecretShop as well. Good luck
ISS is very good about resolving especially since their a scheduling Company....between both you should be helped.

I did the stupid bowling shop before the July 4th week-end. The target was not easy to reach, nor the scheduler. I called the schedular many times; never to be heard from. I did the shop like yourself just like the company asked. The pay was supposed to be $30.00. After many e-mails to the scheduler, i was paid for half, even though they declined it just like you had to deal with. Such liars!
