Banned by scheduler?

I did some shops for Meritz, and complained to them because they do not submit invoices for you. They owed me close to $350. by the time I figured out I wasn't getting paid by them. (Pay never specifies what shop it is for) The book-keeper apologized and sent me a check. The schedulers must have known I wasn't getting paid! They have not OK'd me for a job since. What can I do about it?

I don't understand why shoppers complain about submitting invoices. In reality, as business owners it should be our responsibility. I get it some MSCs save us the step by considering our reports the invoice, but they are doing us a favor.

I doubt the schedulers know when or if you get paid. But, your account might have gotten flagged. Try reaching out to the team that schedules the shops you want. Just accept the fact that you have to invoice, a process that maybe adds about 10 seconds to the debrief. Good luck!

Yes, the invoicing system is stupid. It can pull all the data it needs right from the report the moment you click submit. But if you want to get paid, you still have to do it yourself. No point in complaining. Just call the team and specifically request the jobs you want and see what they say.

I agree with gotshops. You should apologize. The instructions when you sign up with Maritz are very clear. Invoices are required. Although redundant and unnecessary, ICs are required to invoice Maritz for each job. As an independent contractor, you are running a business. Why would you feel you shouldn't have to invoice your customer if that's what the customer wants (and they told you in advance in writing)? And complaining because they didn't do it for you because they expected you to be able to read and follow the directions is just ridiculous.

Meaning no offense, because you clearly don't get it, if I were one of the Maritz schedulers, I would not schedule you for another shop either. You have shown that you cannot read and follow directions. And then you complained because you decided it is your customer's fault that you can't read and follow directions. And you still don't get that you are the one who is wrong here.

Either don't work for them again or apologize and explain that you now know you were wrong and that you understand the requirements and you will invoice for each assignment in the future if they will give you another chance.

These are really nice folks. What other company would apologize to a mystery shopper because she goofed and didn't follow directions? You owe the Maritz bookkeeper a big thank you and you own an apology to the bookkeeper and anybody else you complained to.

Most bookkeepers and accountants issues checks based on an invoice. If one does not submit an invoice, how is one to get paid? What do one want to happened to bonuses? Bonus amount are included on the invoice. Before the accountants and bookkeepers get our invoice, We are the only persons responsible for what is on the invoice. We know the shop fees, reimbursements, and bonuses.

What the OP can do is-------------------->submit the invoice at the same time as submitting the report so that payment is do to arrived.

BTW>>>>> the MSC will never ask Us if we submitted the invoice. smiling smiley
I forgot to invoice a Maritz shop recently; when I went in to invoice the shop had fallen off of the invoice system. It turns out you have 14 days to click the invoice button. I wrote and asked if it would be possible to still invoice. The bookkeeper called me and told me she invoiced for me and told me to be sure to call her directly if I ever have problems figuring out the invoice system.

I know some shoppers find Maritz to be a dinosaur in terms of technology; however, they are achingly sweet and very kind dinosaurs. I like them very much. When they call with emergencies I decline the bonus if I am able to do the shop. I like the schedulers that much - I just want to help them meet their goals.

I agree with everything you said except this statement. I'm more than willing to help them with their goals if they pay me an appropriate amount and help me with my goals. They are lovely folks and I like working for them but they bonus seldom in my area and they phone frequently. I've stopped answering their calls because I'm tired of hearing "well, it's not so far (20 miles across town in heavy traffic)" and "most of our mystery shoppers just take our shops just to help us out." I tell them repeatedly "I can self assign. Anything I see that I want I will self assign. Don't bother to call me if you are not going to offer something more than what is available to me on the website."
My way of working is a lot different than most. My 9-5 has me all over the state in very remote areas; however we only have 6 main arteries in the state. If they need me for an emergency and I'm in town or going through it, I don't need the bonus. I don't pay for my own gas, either, so I don't have to factor that in.
If you want to donate time, why not choose a non-profit instead of a billion dollar corporation?

Hi, I am new here and started, shopping last week. I have done jobs for 4 different companies. Most ask if you take PayPal being new I assumed they just pay you after you finish your assignment completely. I did see where Maritz asks you to do invoices. How many other companies want you to do invoices? And how soon do you send them the invoice after you finished the assignment?
Most companies automatically submit an invoice for you. For Maritz and the one other company I work that requires this, it is submitted immediately after submitting the report. It is an extra step, but really it only takes about 10 seconds.
Back when I did my first shops for Maritz I didn't realize I had to submit an invoice to get paid. It was more than a month later that I realized my mistake, but when I called they were able to help me out.

Harland Clark requires an invoice on the excel spreadsheet they send with shop documents.

Really? I always assumed we were roughly the same age. I turned 46 a couple weeks ago.

I did shopping for Maritz for a long time, until their pay was low for the distance I needed to drive. I forgot once about invoicing, until I learned exactly what to do. They are an excellent company to work for. Their 800 number is always accessible. Just like the other shopper, I think you should apologize. It shows that as a shopper that you are a humble human being (not just another shopper). I find that when we are wrong, it is always great to apologize. See if that works for you. I would suggest that you also wait awhile to try to get more shops to do, when you think enough time has past. Good luck to you, as Maritz team members are truly understanding of their shoppers.
