MF Canceled Shop

Has anyone had this happen? I did a shop a good distance away (for a great bonus of course) for an end of the month special. When I arrived, the location was closed during posted hours. I reported the shop as normal, figuring that I may only get half the price. Well... today I noticed on my Assignment status that it shows "cancelled" which I have never seen before. So... what is one to do. It was fully reported before it was supposively "cancelled." I drove a distance to do this shop. I did pick up a lower paying shop in the same town as "filler," but there is no way I would have drove for just that. Does anyone have any advice or experience with a similar shop?

It seems to me you should be entitled to at least a "closed location" fee.

Did you call ahead and verify hours?
I signed up late the night before. But I did check online to make sure of the hours as I have had other similiar instances with this particular cellular client...stores closing early...closing for lunch... so the website showed hours of 12-5 on Sunday. They had put a piece of paper that said "closed" over the Sunday hours on the window. I did email the help desk... we shall see! Thanks!

I thought I replied directly to you ceasesmith. Sorry. I don't know how this works sometimes hehe.

I had a shop cancelled before but I received an email about it. Luckily, I had not performed the shop yet. The client pulled the shop
Hello eye, yes I have had that also in the past where the shop was pulled. So I am puzzled by this since I accepted, shopped, and reported in less than twelve hours total. I havent heard back yet. We shall see.

I had a cell shop on Sunday but I questioned whether they were opened...I had another shop in the vicinity so I went by the cell phone shop on Saturday and found out they were closed on Sunday (although the website said they were opened) I was able to do the shop on Monday. Lesson learned: Never depend on the website hours as the store may have different hours smiling smiley
Good call! I have ran into quite a few issues like this with the cell phone provider... closing early, closing for lunch, closing for the day... I still haven't heard from MF. It was too far away for me to go by, but I wasn't "surprised." We shall see... Thanks!

The guidelines, I believe, do say to confirm with the store about Sunday hours. The survey allows you to report that the store was closed. The guidelines state if they do or do not pay for closed stores, typically $3 if offered. Did you check the box that the store was closed? If so then the survey would limit you to only applicable questions.

If it is the MSC, as I recall, the closed fee is 1/2 of the shop fee or $3.00, whichever is greater. I always check for a closed shop fee. I've had some in which the closed shop fee was, "Thank you very much."
Thanks for responding. Yes, I reported this a "closed during posted hours" or something like that. The big issue with MF is that, my status says CANCELLED after it was REPORTED. I am like how can they cancel an assignment after it was been done and reported... And I STILL haven't heard from the help desk.

That's really odd, actually, for MF to cancel it after it's been reported. Did you answer the question that says "Did you call ahead to verify the location's hours, address.....?" and answer that question with a no? If so, that might be why. It's the only thing I can think of. Otherwise, an editor needs a call!!!!!
I knoooooow thats what has puzzled me. I answered that question saying that I had checked the website rather than called. Its like they maybe just closed on Sunday temporaily... they had a piece of paper taped over the Sunday hours saying "closed." I have done many for this client and I normally do not call ahead. I am going to send another email. I can't belive theY havent responded as they have responded to questions since I sent that one. The saga continues...

That's probably why, the guidelines say to call. These, except for some, are franchises and they are not at all expensive to open. Many in my area close randomly. I always call for that reason. They only pay the closed fee if you called and they said they would be open. I've had shops that were bonused $150 and they paid $75 for the closed location, however I had to give the date, time and name of the person I talked to when I called to verify. Good luck!
Mod note: Post removed as it breached the Forum guideline which states, "Do not reveal the clients of mystery shopping companies". Additionally, it is usually an ICA violation to name both the MSC and client.

TinaMarie, you revealed a client name. You need to edit quick so the moderator doesn't have to remove your post.
