I'm feeling the same way about the 2nd level. What a pain. The first level took me at least 4 attempts. So far I figure I'm at about a dozen for level two. I have done the research, read everything and anything they have. I figure eventually I'll change the right answer and hit the magic number. So far I'm stuck at 24/25.
Helpful hint

keep written track of your answers..... you will notice patterns.... when you see them written out.

Lol I did that. still no luck.
I'm on level 4 and getting one wrong. I actually forgot about it till this thread. There is a chance of having more than two right answers, don't know how they pass you, very stressful. Took me awhile to get to this place, and it doesn't get easier. I'd love to work with someone...pm me.

Live consciously....
Can you please leave the links off your posts, marknelson. They are considered spam and are not welcome in this forum.

Hi there
Who is leaving links, hope it wasn't me.
No, marknelson left the link, as I wrote. You didn't do anything we would be bothered about, youngcanada. :-)

I got to level 8 many years ago when I first started MSing. I remember going back and forth a lot on the early levels, but once you figured things out it seemed to go quicker as a number of answers were the same.

So 3 years and no assignments in my area, but I just got what for me might be a MSing dream job. It is a new client for them and I had never seen any other company even whisper about this one. It is going to be hard work, but my son and I are super thrilled!!!!
Just goes to show yasmiling smiley Even when companies don't offer work where you live, being signed and passing certifications put you in the starting blocks as soon as they do. Good job, Shelly!
Relative-newbie question here: Who is sqm? I searched the forum (past year) for 'sqm' and nothing came up ... not even this thread.
SQM is a Canada MSC that specializes in great hotels...the levels are what you need to pass to get in, very difficult, but worth the hassle.

Live consciously....
You don't gave to pass any tests to do the hotel shops. Anyone can do them. Level 2 is the hardest test to pass. I finally had to write down my answers and then circle the ones I wasn't 100% sure on and change them one at a time until I passed. Good Luck!
Im having the same problem with sqm's levels...i called them the other day and they're telling me that there are re-vamping the system as it is very difficult for many of the shoppers to go through the test. if you are really interested in a particular assignment, just let them know..and they'll see what they can do..
hope this helps.. smiling smiley
Would anyone mind telling me if it would be worth it for a Floridian to apply, if you're picking up what I'm putting down? :-)
I'm so frustrated with level 2, I have checked and rechecked my answers, I even printed it off and checked it against their manual. My answers are correct, but it still shows 2 wrong. This company is losing a valuable shopper with this type of exam. I have basically given up unless someone has some insight.
Hello all, been stuck on Step leval 1 at 24/25. This test is super unique and I cant seem to figure out which answer I got wrong. Went over each answer with a fine tooth comb and I guess I just have been staring at it too long.
I have printed the test out, and its been a week trying to pass this thing.

My answers are as follows: Anyone passed could maybe check my answers?
Or perhaps does anyone remeber what they found was the most tricky questions:
Thaks!!

1 D
2 B
3 B
4 B
5 D
6 C
7 A
8 C
9 E
10 C
11 D
12 E
13 E
14 C
15 D
16 C
17 D
18 E
19 A
20 F
21 A
22 C
23 F
24 B
25 C
I called them this week as well because I was having difficulty and they said to wait they are changing the tests I think to make it more user friendly so maybe you should wait. Besides I realized that most assignments recommend you have a certain STEP level but it's not mandatory

Hope this helps
Oh Lordy, I forgot about them. I was in their system...definitely a few levels up and did some shops for them but a LONG time back. So much work!
I know some people have passed the test. I guess I am stubborn, and also, I d like to see which question I would have gotten wrong on the first test.
It seems like there are more than one right answers for some of the questions.
Ok, so finally passed Leval 1, thanks to the help on this board!
Someone helped me find out what question I was stuck on.

I'm posting this because I think this question is not worded correctly.
If SQM is to expect quality from its shoppers, then they should be detail oriented themselves. I had to waste a lot of time on this exam and I do not want others to needlessly waste time as well.

Just my opinion, wanted to see if others agree.

So.. this is question 13:

13. According to the Legal Agreement, what is
“Required Reading” for all Mystery Shoppers?

(a) The Orientation Manual.
(b) The SQM Newsletter.
(c) The SQM Newscentre.
(d) A and B.
(e) A and C.
(f) All of the above.

AND... this is the wording for the legal
agreement.. ( which is what the question specifcally asked.

Required Reading

7. You agree to read the ORIENTATION MANUAL and
Shopper Instructions for each Assignment.

8. You agree to read the Special Instructions, so
that you can keep up-to-date with any changes
requested by our clients and to know what is
expected of you as a Mystery Shopper. Furthermore,
you agree to keep up to date on general on going
information posted to the SQM NEWSCENTRE.

9. You acknowledge and understand that it is your
responsibility to know and to follow the
instructions provided to you. Failure to do so may
result in the report being useless. Should the
client not be able to use the report because it
was not completed as requested, SQM has the right
to withhold payment to you for that assignment or
to demand a refund from you if payment was already
made.

Based on this wording, the answer would be: (e) A
and C.

HOWEVER!, I also found this wording in the
shoppers agreement:

7. You agree to read the ORIENTATION MANUAL and
Shopper Instructions for each Assignment.

8. You agree to read the SQM NEWSLETTER and
Special Instructions for each assignment, so that
you can keep up-to-date with any changes requested
by our clients and to know what is expected of you
as a Mystery Shopper. Furthermore, you agree to
keep up to date on general on going information
posted to the SQM Newscentre.

Based on this wording, the answer would be:

(f) All of the above.

But the questions specifically asks for the Legal
agreement, so the answer should be: (e) A and C.

Again, the reason why I am being nitpicky is that when I read SQM's instructions, they are clear that they want shoppers to follow instructions.
So, if the question specifically asks you to read one set of wordings, why would they expect a test taker to deviate from that and read another set of wordings?

Opinions?
