Quick Coyle question

So I just signed up with Coyle after learning about it on this site. I received an email today about local opportunities that are available. There is a restaurant / bar evaluation at an upscale restaurant that I have really wanted to go to anyway, and on the email it says the reimbursement is $15. I'm assuming that is $15 plus the meal? I couldn't find that information when I first logged in. I will try looking again but I just want to verify that before applying for this assignment.

Ok, never mind...I double checked and the reimbursement is up to $250...yay! If anyone has any other words of wisdom that can help me out with Coyle shops, I would appreciate it. I am currently reading the unofficial Coyle thread.
That's your best option. If you have questions, post there and Steve and a few others who have a lot of experience with Coyle are pretty good about answering them promptly.
Read all Guidelines. Timing is most important. Answer all yes and no answers. Read over the questions first. They are helpful if you have questions. Be sure to leave the tip they request. Give yourself plenty of time if you have to go to the bar first, than the restaurant. FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS FULLY. Keep a note pad handy if possible and jot down all of the times, start to finish.
Write EXACTLY in the same way as the sample, even if it sounds stiff to you. Never, ever forget one of the three (eyes, mouth, voice) with even one person you encounter. Allow eight hours for your first report.

If you really want to get in with them then do not say you are a mystery shopper. I would not suggest lying but I would downplay any mystery shopping experience. In the demographics section I would maybe include household income instead of your income and I would make your occupation sound as upscale as possible. Coyle does not want mystery shoppers. What they want are writers who make a lot of money in their normal job and want to write long amounts about their high end clients that they would go to anyway.

Am I the only person that wonders if he states "Opinion:" or "Fact:" before every sentence?
And yes I believe he finds a way to pronounce the :

Thank you all so much for all the helpful advice on this thread. I just started doing shops this past July, so I don't even think I qualify as a mystery shopper yet. I am mainly trying to do higher end restaurants...places I have wanted to try anyway, and using the "mystery shopping" aspect to make it a little more affordable. At least it is less embarrassing than using a Groupon haha.
On Coyle's website there is a manual that has important details on how to complete their shops. It has sample reports as well. It's important to remember that in addition to the narrative, they want comments after every "no" answer but it can only be 3-5 words, not a complete sentence. Also, they have a specific format for writing dates and times.

Edited because I'm typing on my phone.

Hello,
I have received open opportunities from Coyle, so have applied to those, but still there is no response or confirmation from any employee of Coyle for carrying out the assignments. Kindly help me in this regard as to how should i proceed in completing the assignments.

You can't complete until they have been assigned. Here's the thing: when you first start doing assignments with Coyle, they like to "test the waters" so often they don't assign hotel shops until you have done some restaurant and phone shops first, so if you have applied for hotel shops you might not get any for awhile. It also depends on how many shoppers are applying for the same shops you are.
Ok got it, but the area wherein i reside does not attract any other restaurant audits or phone shop ones. Is there any other contact way in approaching them, as i have done various other hotel assignments for varied mystery shopping companies.
You do realize that you can do phone shops to anywhere from anywhere, right? Just expand your search radius and you are bound to find some phone shops. I too have done hotel assignments for various other companies. That doesn't matter to Coyle, they don't know your work. You have to prove yourself to them. They are very picky about how the shops need to be performed. Prove you are competent by doing a phone shop first.
Unless they won't assign you phone shops.

Yes, there's a chance (low) of that. But a better chance to get phone shops when new than hotels.
Coyle is one of the best companies to do assignments for. Just do as you are supposed to with clear and precise answers they are very cool , I love working with them.

They would not assign me a phone shop.

You know that up to 30 other people are applying for the same shops, right? Only one can be chosen, so do the math. There are tons of telephone/internet shops each month, with many international, that are available to fill. You have to be proactive and apply for each one - applying for 5 and thinking you're gonna get picked does not put the odds in your favor.
It takes some applicants to Coyle months/years to get assigned a shop. It's not that easy as just applying. However, if they need a shopper in an area where they have trouble (if I remember you are in India, right?) They may select you earlier. Right now they have a hotel shop in India sitting on their board. I don't think they would give you a hotel though as your first.
Please excuse typos. I am on my phone.
I had a hard time getting any shops with Coyle. I got my foot in the door by specifically looking for shops that were due the next day or in a day or two. I picked up a shop that was due the next day and completed it. Now I have received several phone shops as well as one high end restaurant shop. To be completely honest, the phone shops are gravy! About 10 minutes on the phone, twenty to write up the shop.
The high end steak house was fun, but we had a 2 hour wait for a $65 steak that was no better than what you would get at Saltgrass or Outback!
Well, it doesn't look like I got the shop that I started this thread about but I wasn't really counting on it, considering it was a super high end steakhouse and I haven't done anything with Coyle yet. I saw a couple of phone shops... maybe I will try applying for those to start. I just hate when I feel like I am wasting someone's time by doing a shop where I am don't actually buy anything!
About restaurants, there is also a lower end restaurant that they are always looking for people (the "trendy" noodle shop). If you have it in your area, take it and do a really good job on it.

Shopping across Indiana but mostly around Indianapolis.
