RESOLVED WITH PAY. My receipt flew out the window... tried to find it but it's lost in oblivion. Think my screen grab of bank will work?

So, today was interesting. I did a MF shop and the receipt was stapled to my bag from my purchase. I set the bag in my passenger seat after I was done sampling and taking photos. I left after a bit and was driving down the highway and all of a sudden the receipt just came undone from the bag and flew out the window. It's a two lane, so I parked at a nearby bank and walked the sidewalks trying to figure out where it flew off to. It was only $7.74 and the shop paid $6.

I was hungry! bwahaha. But seriously, I couldn't find this receipt anywhere. I screen grabbed my bank statement and blurred out my balance so it has my name, MF payment from yesterday, and the name of the food place and town where I did the shop. It says "$7.74 XXXXX store in Morehead on 9/14" ... think this one will make it through QC?? I just wanted a free lunch on the way to work.

Email helpdesk with an explanation along with that and hopefully that will work. Considering how much work you have done for them reliably without deception or flakiness, they should give you the benefit of the doubt.
They can review video if they want grinning smiley I just didn't grab a photo of the ticket since I hadn't made it in to the work desk yet. Of all the strange things that could go wrong, today is on a roll. First the paper cutter almost took my thumb off and then my lunch bill flew off into the great beyond grinning smiley *Emails help desk*

My experience is MF will accept reports without a receipt. I accidentally threw mine out on a shop. It was accepted, but I would not make a habit of it. It might be part of the "Three Strike Rule".
I shopped the client last week. The receipt was not provided. I answered the questions and added comments when allowed. My shop was approved. For the receipt image I submitted a picture of the banners/store-front.

Yes, e-mail the Helpdesk and still report your shop. I had this happen, when we had high winds and the receipt blew right out of the bag. They paid me. I hope it works out for you.
I think that every very active shopper has had the "receipt blew away" problem at one time or another! I now carry those black spring clips in the drink cup of my vehicle and place all receipts into a clip. Those are heavy enough not to allow things to blow out the window and, unlike paper clips, will not accidentally "hitch hike" onto other papers rendering what you need invisible.

ooooh, I like that idea. I usually stick things into the pocket of my travel note book like business cards, receipts, and such but it was stapled to the bag and I was going to take the rest of my sampled sammich in for lunch... before I knew it, bon voyage grinning smiley Whew!

I always snap a photo of the receipt when I do the taste test and take food photos. If it were me, I probably would not bother emailing the Help Desk. I would explain in the report. I've never had a receipt fly out the window, but I once threw one in the trash can. I've also been not given a receipt, even after asking once, I've been told it's in the bag (but it isn't), I've been given a completely wrong receipt (someone else's, showing different items and a different price), and been given a receipt with the wrong time, even once the wrong date. I've always explained in the report and I've always been paid. I don't remember them even emailing me with questions for any of those times, they just approve the reports and I got paid.
The same thing happened to me, I immediately went back to the restaurant and got a duplicate....sometimes it works.

The same thing happened to me about a year ago. I submitted a screen shot of my CC statement showing my name, MF shops, and everything else was blacked out. Make sure you contact the help desk.
Call the location and ask them to email you a copy of your receipt.

It wasn't through MF but I came home one day and couldn't find the receipt anywhere. I'd been on a grocery store shop. I submitted and said that I could get a screen shot of my CC transaction. They accepted that but also wanted a picture of what I had bought. I had already eaten part of it, so fished 3 apricot pits out of the trash. I was laughing about it and I hope the editor did too. But was glad they accepted it.
I did make a note on my report and it had on the debit bank statement that I was in Moorehead this afternoon and the name of the location. I don't think it had a time stamp, but eh. I did submit a photo of my food. Haven't heard back but I did send a quick message to the help desk too.

If it ends up not being accepted, at least I grabbed up a couple things this evening and tomorrow to offset. I usually grab my photos and stuff in the car but I was heading to work and figured I'd sample everything in the lot and drive to work to finish my lunch with everyone else. I'm doing census prep work right now. First time a receipt has flown out the window on me. 0_o bwahaha. It's kinda humorous but if it were an expensive shop, I'm sure I would of made other arrangements to get my fees.

I did a restaurant shop that paid $80. We had a nice dinner and went back home. To my horror, I realize the receipt was not itemized. I had no way of proving that I ordered a 3 course meal. I knew it wouldn't help but I call the restaurant and explain I need it for reimbursement from my company. I asked if he could email me a picture as it was nearly 9 pm. He refused. I drove back and got the receipt. Phew!!...From then on, I always make sure the receipt is itemized.
Taking a picture of receipts, business cards and other POV right away solves the problem.

Did you call the location to have them send you a copy?

I had that happen once when I had a bunch of papers secured in a slash folder along with the one needed receipt. I drive a convertible (I know...dangerous for things flying out) Well, suddenly the needed receipt somehow came out of the folder it was tucked in and flew away. I was determined to find it and must have driven an extra 25 miles round and round that stupid highway...yes, highway...to no avail. I ended going back to store and getting new receipt. I couldn't believe the only thing to leave that folder was the receipt that I really needed.

thought we not supposed to contact clients. what normal person would ask for ff receipt from day or two ago for $7. i wouldn't want some pimple faced kid having my email either.
*UPDATE* Approved without issue. Never even received a question from the editor. I suppose my bank snapshot was good enough and went through fine. The only thing it didn't allow me to do was put my receipt number. I knew both workers names as they did great and provided it upon greeting.

I just tell them that my Boss is anal and will not take anyone's word for anything. He says it is because some guys went to a strip joint instead of lunch. I believe him because I have done that but I didn't try and get work to pay for it.

Bad advice in this situation. Most MF guidelines allow us to ask once for a receipt, during the shop. Most guidelines or general instructions cover receipt related expectations, allowances and restrictions.
