Dear MarketForce

I was perusing your board today looking for a fast food shop in my area, because my kitchen is out of order. There was not one in my little town but there were several in surrounding towns. I may in fact be going to one of these little nearby towns today, as I am shopping for something I can't obtain here. I thought about picking up one of those fast food shops but I didn't. Aren't you curious as to why? I didn't because if I take that little shop at $5.50 today, you will never pay me more than that in the future. So a $5.50 + reimbursement fee today could limit my potential income severely in the future. Hmmm. Why would I do that to myself?

I like MarketForce and try to do your shops whenever I can. I submit offers and travel to accomplish them whenever possible. Your new policy makes it very difficult for route shoppers like me. Of course maybe you don't care about route shoppers, but as I've traveled about 75 miles one way to do shops for you, maybe you should give it a little thought. I route more companies and shops than just yours, but you have guaranteed I will never stack one of yours on at base price when I am away from home for someone else. Something I used to routinely do. Again, that could limit my potential income in the future.

With respect and affection,
CQ

I've actually been eyeballing a few myself in Pikeville & Bristol. There's a cardiac specialist in both of those cities and I travel there a bit -- but I cannot make myself pick the shops up yet. I'd rather wait until a few days before or the day of just to see. I don't wanna grab em up at $4 today and in two weeks time, they be at $25 Make an Offer.

Just to note -- the cardiologist isn't for me. I'm not on my way to the heart doctor eating fried chicken. grinning smiley

Oh, wait, I guess technically I would be. Heh. At any rate, my family member isn't tongue sticking out smiley

CoffeeQueen- The $5.50 fee is low but I don't think that would preclude you from getting a higher price in the future. You may not get $25 but you may get $10-$15. I've accepted a lower shop price before and was able to get 3x that amount when they needed someone.

Their pricing methodology doesn't make any sense to me as they start at $5.50 shop fee and they increment .50 at a time.
Actually, it does. I had a phone call recently from a scheduler who offered me a low amount for a shop about 30 miles away. I replied that I would do it for $24. She said that I had done it the last time for $22 and could not go higher than that. I declined as I didn't have any other shops there to make up the difference and make the trip worthwhile. But they would not give me the $24. My costs have actually gone up. I shopped the last several years in a hybrid Honda, which kept my gas costs extremely low. I've replaced that car with a non-hybrid now, so I'm not taking shops with fees that don't cover my costs and give me a little bit extra.

CoffeeQueen, I've had schedulers say something similar to me as well. I used to occasionally take fast food shops at base pay when doing routes but now skip them for the same reason.
CoffeeQueen, I had the exact same thing happen. I explained to them that the last time I did the shop (30 miles away) I did it in conjunction with another shop. They said, it did not matter, they could not go above the amount I did it for last time. Oh well, their loss.
They have used this rule repeatedly with me. I have passed up many route shops during the first 15 days of the month for this very reason. I am standing firm on my amounts. I held out last month and still got most of my locations for my normal amounts during the last week of the month.
She just called me for a burger shop. Its Friday, after work 4:15'-9:15 and it can take 45 min to get through that highway and she wouldn't budge. Too bad, I'll be very hungry by then. Of course their map shows it is 11 mn away.
They've been calling me relentlessly this afternoon. But I decided not to do the dinner shop.
If it's the certain amount of males burger shop, then it is done weekly and not monthly. It's one of the few clients where you can get bonuses even at the beginning of the month. Be firm on your reasonable amounts.
My DIL just got her call for the "we serve Idaho potatoes" guys. I'm so glad she didn't take the bait on their low ball offer.
MF either sent an email or posted it on their site that accepting a shop at base fee affects whether or not your MAO is accepted and how big a bonus you get. They were quite open about the policy. And it sucks. It's counterintuitive because the cooperative, loyal shoppers get screwed instead of rewarded. I haven't done much with MF since they implemented their new website and when they stated their policy it made me less likely to take their shops.

That hint is a little much, however its making me hungry

I'm from Idaho. I often KNOW the farmers who provide the spuds. So it was a bit of pat on the back. grinning smiley
If they say that I can't get the shop for more than I took it at last time, I just start stuttering and say my dishwasher is getting away because one of the kids started running it and then left.
I have found that if I do one shop to get on there list I have found I can get them up on price when they call me. Just don't give up it took a week of calls from them but I did get my price
As a route shopper, i will do your shop at a lower price IF I AM HEADING THAT WAY. If not, i expect to be compensated extra. MF is now basing bonuses on previous shop rates....I am not acceping those shops....and I wait for Samantha or the Georgia scheduler to call with offers....all other offers remain on the board
That email came to me on August 14th, 2017. The very first point made:

"What fee was received last time"
