Ath Power Credit Card Shops

Does anyone know if applying for credit during these shops shows up as a credit inquiry on your credit report? I also emailed the shop coordinator, but I was wondering any of you guys knew.

If you apply for credit, it should show up on your credit report if they pull your credit. I think that's why they pay decent money for these shops because it does affect your credit.
Ok. Thank you. I think I'll pass on these types of shops. Your credit score is so sensitive.
It depends on the project.... Sometimes they're provide a block to withhold your application, even if you proceed with an application. Other times, you may receive a faux social security numbers.

Also, though hard credit checks do affect your credit score, it's not as critical as the general public makes it....

I place literally 10-15 hard credit checks a year, yet my credit score literally fluctuates between 790 to 820. For example, I opened up a 2 credit cards this month with Experian reporting my credit score to be 811. Checking again today, it's down to around 795 (with Experian), 786 estimated with TransUnion and 795 estimated with Equifax.

The Slate one or the 80,000 Marriott one, Tarantado?

Depends on your needs. If you have debt that needs to be settled, Slate is good because of the $0 balance transfer fee for 15 months 0% interest. Terrible rewards though.

80,000 points bonus (after $3,000 spending requirement within the first 3 months) for Marriott is only luke-warm, as this sometimes goes as high as a 100,000 (but at a $5,000 spending requirement within the first 3 months). But if you have no debts and are looking to obtain a hotel card, Marriott is decent. The $85 annual fee basically pays for your 'free anniversary night,' which makes the card a decent one especially if you perform lots of hotel shops for Marriott.

Personally, the SPG card is better, but is at a slightly more expensive fee at $95 a year and also AMEX deals attached to them as well.

It will show up as a hard inquiry on your credit report and your FICO Score will take a small hit. I do 3 or 4 of these type of shops a year. I pay them off every month and then in 12 months call and ask for the annual fee to be removed and the APR lowered. Works every time!
I did a credit card shop with them and it showed up on my credit report as usual. It didn’t impact my credit score enough to notice, but it did cost me the opportunity to sign up for another credit card with a bonus that was worth several times what I made on the shop. Many excellent credit card bonuses come from Chase and they now have a 5/24 rule on a lot of their best cards — if you have signed up for five or more credit cards in the past 24 months then they won’t give you the card. So in my case a $100+ fee cost me the ability to get $500+ in sign up bonus. Needless to say I won’t do another credit card sign up shop unless it’s with a fake social security number or the pay equals a good credit card sign up bonus. BTW — is anyone willing to share which MSC’s provide a shopper with fake credentials? For anything financial I’ve always had to use my own info.
I agree with Julia2026 here. The shop fee (and we have to pay taxes on it as well) is not much if I compare it with many credit card's which have good points initially if we spend [x] amount of money in first 3 months on which we have no taxes to pay, no reading the requirements and NO filling up post shop survey.

5/24 killed us churners.... fortunately, the 5/24 rule doesn’t count for Chase business cards.... grinning smiley

For me, the credit card shops are sometimes worth it, as those won’t require a high spending requirement to obtain the bonus. Rather, it’ll be for a SINGLE purchase plus a report.

For me, I’ll blend credit card shops and signup bonuses for churning only if the shop is worth it to me with the pay.
