Invalidated Shops with Market Force

I had my first invalidated shop with Market Force because I mistakenly included a picture from the previous shop that I was doing the same day. I feel that it was an honest mistake that I could have easily corrected if given the chance. However M F did not allow for any cure option and rejected, not only, the shop with the wrong pic but the shop with the correct pic as well. Both were had good bonuses attached and were personally requested/offered to me by the scheduler. On top on this, the QC contact was very rude about the issue. Most companies that I work with are great about allowing corrections if they see issues.

Can anyone offer advice on trying get to M F to be easy to work with other than to be strictly exact in my eval.?

I'm sorry that you had a shop declined. That's disappointing. I've never submitted wrong pictures but I had a shop denied. I shopped the wrong location. How dumb did I feel! When you make a mistake like using pictures from a wrong shop, it brings your entire report into question. It makes the customer think "This report is not strictly exact. What else might be wrong with it?" And it makes them not want to look foolish by submitting a potentially messed-up report to their customers.

My advice is to keep in mind that you are an independent contractor and Market Force is your customer and you should strive to be strictly exact in your evaluations. If you hired an independent contractor painter to paint your house and he painted some of the walls the wrong color, you probably wouldn't pay him. While you might let him fix the work, you probably would never use him again. Be glad you weren't deactivated and you are still able to work for Market Force.

I find it helpful to save my photos with the shop ID # and to double check when I upload the photo. That might help you be more strictly exact in the photos you submit in your evaluations.
Hi hanks for your input. Since this issue, changed my process in loading shop pics to strictly restrict the downloads to that particular shops which has helped. It was a good learning experience but a good opportunity to reflect make changes....Then to move on.
My only invalidated job for Market force was because I mistakenly submitted a photo from a previous job. After that incident, I started saving the photos and receipts using the shop ID#s.
Mine were invalidated last month when they said that I used an old photo. I think that more likely, I switched photos from the two locations, but whatever. They would not let me fix it either. I have no way of knowing what I uploaded, as they won't tell me, but yet they will answer a half dozen emails on it??? I have been working for them since 1999. Oh well. It sucked, but if you complain too much, they will permanently deactivate you, I promise.

I am not aware of any MSCs that do not expect this of us.

My posts are solely based on my opinions and for my entertainment, contact a professional if you need real advice.

I did a similar thing, submitted two reports with the same picture according to MF. Both of mine were rejected as well. I was advised by MF that when we sign the CPI we're stating that we've double-checked our work and they will NOT make any exceptions to fix a report. What peeves me is there is no way to make a pdf of your report. If I've made an error on a report I want to be able to go back and see that error. Instead I have to take MF word for it.

MF is literally the only MSC that I have worked for that offers no chance to fix an error.

Very interesting. I had a shop invalidated last week because 'I used a picture from a previous shop'. I have done hundreds of shops for them and this has never happened. Now it seems to be happening to a lot of us in a short time frame. Makes me wonder if it's not something on their side.

It happened to me before. When I explained that the Kid's store had exactly the same entrance and that I was doing the Kid's store but did the adult one a few days before, I received no answer. Obviously they were not aware of it when they viewed my photos. My report was accepted. Editors are not infallible.

Did you use a storefront photo from the previous shop in your report or something?
Just wondering about something....why not submit photos with date/time stamps on them? Then MF (or any other MSC) would be able to tell that they were different just from either the date and/or time stamped on the photo.
Not sure about MF, but some MSC's specifically do not want the date time stamp on the photo.

If you use Safari you can make a pdf. Otherwise take screen shots. I goofed up one with another MSC when I first started, so now everything gets labeled and into separate folders. It keeps me sane, especially when I'm reporting 6-7 shops in the evening.
I had one denied too in April. Grocery shop on Fridays have to be shopped after 4pm and I shopped it just 4 minutes before 4 pm. I did not read the guidelines as I always shop them on weekend where there is no time constraint. Never assume, double check everything before submitting..That is what I have learnt.

Hmmmm....that's an interesting point, and one I hadn't considered. I only mentioned it because when I shop for other MSCs, I have done just that with no issues. But you bring up a good point....make sure to know exactly what an MSC will and will not accept for photos.
I can't believe Market Force has not gotten rid of mesmiling smiley. There was a month when I had messed up on three of my reports and they were rejected. I went to the wrong hardware store, I'm glad they kept me around though, I pay closer attention.
Nope. I used a new photo for each shop but the editor did not consider that they were in different angle. I suspect they discovered that they were different stores in the same mall.
After ten years shopping for them, I had a shop invalidated last night. Stated reason was duplicate photos of entree. I know for a fact that was not the case. So long doing anymore fast food/casual restaurants for me.
It's embedded in the details if you took the photo with your phone, and if locations are turned on it also shows where you were when you took the photo in addition to the date and time. Someone could always use that to argue their stance, but with MF that doesn't always work.

They suck, i just drove 80 miles round trip because i as asked to"help them out"
They just told me that i wouldnt get paid because my start time was 1 minute off of the cameras at the shop.
I'll never do another shop for them their are plenty of other companies out there.
Because they won't allow you to use time stamped photos. It would take away their ability to not pay you for a shop.
They didn't pay me one time because they said my time was off by a minute. What they do is deny paying you and still use your shop and they make more money
@ropesman
Are you sure that that's the only reason they invalidated the shop? Such a discrepancy could be just a matter of you looking at your watch for the starting time ten seconds before the next minute and the camera catching you twenty seconds later. It seems to me that an MSC would struggle to survive like that. You are also directly accusing Market Force of an pretty nasty ethical violation by suggesting that they got paid for the shop, but did not pay you.

If I were to receive that as the only reason for a shop being invalidated (especially after driving 80 miles), I would pursue the issue further.

Sorry, Ropesman....I just completed two tax audits for them last week, and submitted date/time stamped photos. No problems. Shops accepted.
Invalid shop now (but valid in the past)..
Did their Chinese fast food shop with a major chain this week. MF returned as invalid, due to the photo of the self serve soda cup being in a separate photo from my entrée. The guidelines emphasized the entrée photo must be "good and clear". That being said I took a clear photo of entrée and a clear photo of the self serve soda cup.
MF now says they must all be in one photo, even though it was obvious they were on same table at restaurant.
The photos were spot on good and I feel my report was as well.
With the other noticeable changes at MF, makes me wonder if they are submitting reports to clients and not paying shoppers. Yes that's being cynical and MF is one of the biggest mystery shop companies, but it's not the same company it was 2-3 years ago.
Their reports are very specific and it seems that reports can be rejected for the simplest/smallest reasons. Their reporting system, I think, is very finicky and will automatically reject you if you enter in a time that doesn't make sense, as an example. Is it worthwhile to bring it up ? That is up to you. From past experiences in the forum, it sounds like MF can unenroll shoppers for no stated reason. For a low$ shop, it may be worthwhile to let it go and chalk it up to a learning experience.
I did appeal to no avail. Just frustrating since the guidelines specially said photos must be good/clear and I did the shop at least five times in the past. I cant complain I've done 1000's of shops for MF the past 5 years. Just seems like a different company recently.
Were your other approved reports for the same shop sent with 2 different photos ? If so, and the most recent shop instructions were the same as the previous ones, then they are being nit picky.
