MS companies I don't know about

Hi all - I've been doing ms for a good few years now. Used to have a long list of companies that I'd check in with on a weekly basis. It's dwindled down somewhat due to pay issues, attitudes, etc. I'm looking to find some "new" companies I haven't encountered before, but where?? Within the last year, I took the very old and outdated list from this site and went thru it thoroughly (really? No one can update that half useless list?!). Got some from that. But there are so many businesses out there that I've never seen shops for. Am I wrong to assume that all chain stores have secret shoppers? Is there another source I can go to for more MS companies? Thanks for any ideas.

The list on this forum is probably the most complete list, even though it has not been updated for mergers and a few MSCs that just failed. I was maintained entirely by volunteer efforts. So, if you want to volunteer, get in touch with Jacob.

Wales- Actually, I have to disagree. As I recall, I spent way too much time ending up in the dead zone: links that no longer worked, companies no longer in business, etc. It does need to be expertly reviewed in order to be a great resource again.

I get most of my "new" companies, not from that list directly,but by watching this board. When companies are discussed, I figure they are active and I'll sign up. That has gotten me all the really big companies and quite a few smaller and more moderately sized ones. Periodically, I'll grab one at random off the list, but I find the odds of a random company having much in my area are pretty low...

I wish I could like Wales post about 1,000 times. It is bad enough to complain before finding out volunteer hours were provided by many shoppers, but after is ungrateful and smacks of privilege.

Kathy, where in the post did they say they were interested in working toward a solution? He said the list needed to be reviewed, but didn't offer to do the reviewing.

Sorry for the n00b question, but how can I get in touch with Jacob? I've recently (within the past few months) gotten back into MSing and have been working to rebuild my list of companies. I'd be glad to share my info to update the list on this site.

Travelinhobo, you can always just download the Gigspot App. It has multiple MSP's in one spot. It is based on your zipcode. That way you only have to log in once and have one password as well. Good Luck!

Perhaps you can share with us the results of you going through the horribly outdated and half useless list with what updates need to be made. Surely you kept notes of each. While you're at it please include links to both the MSC's home pages and job boards of any MSCs you have found which are not on the list. If you post it here I'm sure someone can PM @JacobJ and let him know you've updated the list so he can move it over to the correct page.

Christy- I don't use a stupid phone. If you're talking about the Presto Map, I look at that occasionally on the computer, however not all companies are represented on it.

BGriffin - I don't give my labor away for free. The days of males exploiting me are well over.

For all those who felt my earlier responses were too harsh, what do you think now?

This entire forum depends on sharing our free labor helping one another. If you find that exploitative you obviously did not learn about sharing at home or in kindergarten. The only good to come of your posts is that someone who does know how to share has stepped forward to volunteer to improve the forum by working on updating the list. And that forum member is getting accolades all around.

Please also note that almost half of the most frequent and helpful posts on this forum come from men, in spite of the fact that women are somewhat in the majority of total posters. No one is being exploited here; do you understand "everybody wins when nobody loses"? That is not just the norm here; it is the expectation.
