Sentry and Dwolla

Anyone having problems with getting their pay ? Sentry has changed to Dwolla from Bill.com.
Cannot figure out why my money isnt showing up.
Ive written to Sentry and Dwolla and now i am more confused.
Its so frustrating to write email after email and the problem isnt solved.
Id just love a phone call if, after so many emails, we dont have the issue resolved.

I don't do either Bill.com or Dwolla which is why i don't work for Sentry.

Live consciously....
Yes. I went through the same thing. I actually didnt have to write Sentry this time. My issue was with Dwolla. Initlally when Sentry said they were migrating to Dwolla I saw that my pay fell during the time they made their switch, so I signed up for an account immediately with Dwolla. I was confused because I saw nothing about adding bank account info. I waited since it takes Sentry a while for payment anyway to see how this will play out. At the beginning of this week i received an email from Dwolla that Sentry was sending me payment and to sign in to accept payment or sign up for an account. I did and at this time I was able to add my bank account. Again, vague info from Dwolla. No confirmation or info after that. I waited another day and just this morning Dwolla emailed me stating that i had received payment and it would be transferred to my bank account in 1-2 business days. It was slightly irritating because their website isn't really user friendly for people like us who iust want to be paid, but maybe that is me. Im just excited I didn't have to email Sentry this time! It all worked out. So just double check with Dwolla that all is set up correctly if you have not received info from them about payment if your payment is due at this time.

I rarely shop for Sentry, and it will be less because of the payment method. I signed up for Dwolla, yes the site is vague and not detailed. Signed up and confirmed my bank. Sentry paid Dwolla, 2-3 business day hold on the payment. Payment is finally authorized. Another 2-3 business day wait for the transfer to my bank. It will take a hefty bonus to get my attention.
So to no one's surprise, Sentry's claim that Dwolla is a "real" ACH service is not true. Allowing Dwolla to sit on funds for a few days is not good business. Sentry ought instruct them that if they wish their continued business that they must affect the transfers without delay. Better yet, fire them and go with PayPal which actually works, without errors, and within seconds.
Several of our clients by us using ACH. In each case, we receive a notification of payment (called a remittance advice) before payment is deposited into our account 2 - 4 days later.

In addition to the notification sent by Dwolla, we sent an email ahead of processing payments to encourage shoppers who had not done so already to set up an account with Dwolla to speed up the payment process. Overall, the transition has gone very smoothly.

Edited to add: ACH is not instant payment. There are processing times for funds to move through the process.

I prefer being paid without all the rigamarole. I hate wasting time with bookkeeping issues.

Is using a third party like Bill.com or Dwolla a money saving option for MSCs?
So glad Sentry has only one shop near me. I do not need this hassle. Love MSCs that say "You must accept PayPal payments."
In most cases an ACH initiated directly from one bank account to another will take one business day. If it is processed on Wednesday before the Federal Reserve cut off, the funds will usually be available to the receiver some time on Thursday. The additional time is because a third party is being used.

I can't speak to Dwolla, but most MSCs do cover themselves with PayPal by stating payment may take several days. For me it has never taken more than one day for PP to get the funds into my account. As long as I initiate the transfer to my bank account by around 4 or 5 pm, the funds are always in my account the next day. Most of the time they are available as early as 8 AM. Other than weekends, the whole process is 48 hours or less.

Equal rights for others does not mean fewer rights for you. It's not pie.

I'm not understanding the need for a third party. Can't they just drop shopper payments via direct deposit?

When I processed ACH and wire transfers it was for a larger corporation. I accessed it through our bank account. I was paying bills out of the account daily. Individually they could be anywhere from several thousand to a million or more so over the course of the week we are talking tens of millions of dollars flowing in and out of the account. It could be cost prohibitive for a MSC paying out a lot of small payments once or twice a month.

Paypal has fees too. I set up an account for my meetup through them. The flat fee they took out of each small payment from my members amounted to 20%. Fortunately since I was a very, very small business they allowed me to switch to a personal account without any fees. But the msc that use paypal must be paying them quite a bit.
I was not happy that they are charging me a fee. No where did it say that I would be charged a fee.

Dwolla charges the end recipient a fee?

I received my payment today and there was no fee taken out. I received exactly what I was supposed to in my bank account. Not sure why you say you are being charged.
