After 5 faithful years of service, Marketforce pulled the plug.

I have been working with Marketforce off and on for over 5 years. Just when I think I have a successful monthly route planned out, they cut me off without any kind of explanation. I had just scheduled 28 shops for the next 4 days and overnight they decided to deactivate my account. I emailed them and can you believe they actually said back, "We don't have to tell you why. You can quit at anytime without explanation and we can terminate your contract at any time without explanation." How childish is that?
They also terminated my husband's account without even sending him an email.
I was devastated for awhile but I put my big girl panties back on and I'm looking for new shops with other companies. There is no way I'll be able to make the same amount of money I was making with MF, mostly because most of the other ms companies don't have near the shops with the bonuses in rural Nebraska, western ks, western ok and northern tx as MF does.
Has anyone ever been able to get rehired with MF after termination?

@misspocos75 - I am so sorry to hear that you were deactivated without explanation. Are you already signed up as an Evaluator with BARE? Hopefully we have shops available in your area. I know you said you're in rural Nebraska, but hopefully we can help each other out.

Thank you for the reply. And to answer your question, yes I am signed up with Bare and have done quite a few shops for them. I am about to schedule a testing center shop with them today actually. See if I can get it done before the end of the month.
@misspocos75 - You're very welcome. Keep in mind that unless the shop is due at the end of the month, and February is a short month this month (eek only 28 days!) the shops are posted with a short 2-4 day window, but sometimes can be expanded by emailing the Scheduler. Hope this helps. Feel free to reach out anytime.

I think Marketforce should give you an explanation for retiring you. Our first thought would be what did I do wrong. I would like to know too. I know that they don't have to tell you, but it would be professional and for both of you to benefit from this.
Since you mention your husband has been terminated as well, I can surmise precisely why they terminated you both. Market Force is notorious for terminating shoppers when they discover there are two shoppers using the same IP address. Do some searching in the forum, you'll find this to be the case.

Shopping up and down the Colorado Rocky Mountain front range.
I had read that awhile back as well about MF not liking it when shoppers had the same IP address, I don't know why. And they don't usually reinstate from what others have posted in the forum. A few times I read that they terminated shoppers who had been doing a huge amount of work for them. The times where forum members did get reinstated it was shoppers who had been inactive for a lengthy period of time and emailed helpdesk to ask for reactivation, which was granted.

Sorry to hear that it happened to you. I hope you find a lot of other companies that have work in your area.
If I was deactivated by MF it would be terrible for me. They are my bread and butter and I enjoy working for them. I like the type of shops they offer and I get bonuses because I'm willing to travel to the remote areas (in the winter over mountain passes!) It would be great if they would share why they deactivate.
COMystery already explained that if they have two shoppers in the same household, they deactivate everybody.
I'm so very sorry to hear this. My spouse and I both have accounts on MF so I will personally look into this as well.

I am totally with you on that Margot! Most months I was only working for Marketforce, and I traveled approximately 1,500 miles per month, over 5 different states to make a full-time income.
My husband would be lucky if he shopped 3 times a year for them since he already has a full time job.
I'm just gonna be lost without them. I really enjoyed working for them too. I finally had most of their shops down pat and even made cheat sheets I'd take along with me to fill out after my shop so I could do several in one day.
I got a similar notice. No reason (and no other shopper on this IP). Just an attitude. Whoever is tasked with sending out their emails needs some basic lessons in manners and courtesy. But we move on.

LShapiro, what happens if I pass one of those exams? There's one not too far from me, but I don't want to eat the test cost should I pass.

@iShop123 - I'd email the scheduler and ask about the guidelines. It says, "You will upload the confirmation email you receive from Pearson Vue and a copy of your report score to verify that you failed the exam."

I totally agree with you iShop123. The gal I received an email from wad inconsiderate and rude. She needs a lesson in humanity.

As for the testing... Unless you know a lot about finance and real estate, I'm sure you'll fail. There is 100 questions containing a lot of math and problem solving. If you're really good at those, just pick an answer you know is wrong. Easy Peasy.
Thank you @misspocos75

I found this thread interesting about reasons for deactivation:

Evaluating and mailing packages since 1994
My roommate and I had assignments loaded up, we were both deactivated overnight. So, it's "good" to know many of us are not loners in this.
If you use the same terminology, same sentence structure, basically your shop results look pretty much the same, especially the ones with narrative, ;and you don't change it around, especially if you are route shopping, you can be sure to be canned!

Change it up!

Take pics from one angle on one shop, another angle on the next one and so on. START your narrative with "Overall, the blah blah" on one shop and on your next shop END your narrative with "Overall, the blah blah". Take tons of pics at one shop at only the minimum at the next. ETC.
I made a lot more money after I stopped working with MarketForce and there are many other shoppers who will say the same.

I always wondered what the testing was. I just don't know if my inner geek would let me fail, that I would make a game out of seeing what I could infer and how well I could do.
I actually passed one of the tests, maybe two. The first could have gone either way. I was trying to do well enough to not look suspicious. Obviously that didn't work out too well. The second was totally unexpected. Not all the tests are the same.

I have an on again and off again relationship with MF. Sometimes I go 6 or more months without doing a shop and then months like this one I am accepted for most of the "make an offer" shops that I ask for and am pleasantly surprised to be granted such nice fees. This morning I did a 15 minute tax prep location audit that paid $35 and was 10 miles from my house. I have another one of those near home for next Tuesday. This afternoon I did a hardware shop less than 5 miles away that normally only pays $7 and they gave me $20. Took me 12 minutes to do and another 10 to report. I am sure another drought is in store for me, but I'll take it as long as it lasts.

Did you get paid for the one you passed?

Yes I did. The MSC is one of the better ones so it is not a surprise.

Well I think they let me go because my last check from them was for over $1,700. Irritating because it's not like I've gotten checks like that a lot from them. A good friend of mine usually makes more than that from them and she's been doing it full time for a long time.
I'm totally over it now though... Trying to keep it positive. Less fast food shops = less fat I'll put on. Lol
Crap, my husband just signed up for MF because he works in a large city (that i actually have only visited a few times) and they often have restaurant shops that he can do for lunch. He hasnt shopped for them yet though.
Me too! I worked for them for 5 years, then they dropped me from shopping a fast food shop. they kept calling me for other shops but I finally just told them to forget me. LIke many of you, they were my "bread and butter"
I personally am not allowed go work for MF again. I did many many shops for them in the past, then they canceled my account. Gave me some BS line about they way they conduct theirselves as a company is what makes them great or something.

I cussed out several people for that garbage response. No regrets. I never look back, it distracts from the now.
Wow, $1700 from them in a month. That's pretty good. Was it mainly fast food/casual dining restaurants? Or what kinds of shops? I had eight shops scheduled with them for $25 each, and they canceled them all saying that the client canceled. I was disappointed.
Misspocos75- Sorry to hear that.I have been there too. They just terminate.period.MF never reinstates.
