Intellishop Complaints & Inquiries

I started shopping for them about a year ago. It's been smooth sailing until now. I got very suspicious when I received an email from an IntelliIshop employee weeks after a shop, asking for the same pictures I'd submitted when I submitted my initial report. The request was without explanation. I sent the photos again via email attachment, as requested. Lately, it seems that they are trying to find trivial reasons to invalidate shops. Has anyone else been experiencing this? I am not one of those shoppers who claims I should get paid if I've messed up a shop. If I've done so, I bite the bullet and move on. I would like to hear other opinions, so I can decide whether or not to drop this company.

Don't know about that but they have certainly throttled back on the bonuses-- no more $15-$20 shops--- they all go for less than $9. I think the schedulers have been given guidance to scale back on the bonuses because a recent email from my scheduler stated, " there will be no bonuses for this shop"... well see about that. when they need it done-- they pay.

Getting an email asking for more information about a shop that was already edited and sent to the client sounds like the client has questioned something about your shop. How many weeks ago was your report submitted? Have you already been paid for the report?
Was it a pizza shop? It sounds like the client may not like the photos and Intellishop is trying to get the report to go through.

The burger shops pay bupkus!

That's mostly the fault of the people who keep snapping them up when the cycle starts over at $7. By the time it hits $10 and I get interested, some locations I drive by regularly are no longer on the board. Or only there for late night and breakfast shops, when I don't want to do them. Asking for a burger and fries at 6am while on the way to work is the most awkward thing ever.
I LOVE burgers for breakfast! I wish all places had the option! Instead most offer "breakfast" all day. Yuk.
I don't know why but I can't get a hold of their scheduler. Same things happened to Sentry years ago.
It says in the guidelines that the client may come back 4-6 weeks later for a different photo. I guess they did, huh. So, it's not Intelli, it's the client. These are the pics I take now: 4 pics on the ground in the sunlight, 4 pics on the ground with me blocking the sun, and 4 pics on the seat of my car during the day with the car light on. More than likely, the pics on the ground with the sunlight blocked come out perfectly. The ones in direct sunlight tend to have speckles and little green hues and the ones in the car tend to be a little too dark to show the cheese separation. My phone's flash adds speckles also so I can't use the flash. I put all four pics in 4 folders under the shop. I choose the ones that look the best, open them in paint and crop around the box. As opposed to the normal time, this adds about 4 minutes to my tasks. But then I have backup photos, for whatever it is they're looking for, if and when the client has a problem counting the little pepperonis.
Geez, I took 4 pic's total when I did my three....all went through, thought it was the easiest job I've doe so far. Didn't use my phone, my cannon camera works best.

Mod note: Post removed as it breached the Forum guideline which states, "Do not reveal the clients of mystery shopping companies". Additionally, it is usually an ICA violation to name both the MSC and client.

Every time I do a pizza shop where I take pictures straight on with pizza they do that to me. So I have to keep 30-50 pictures of the same pizza on my phone until I get paid. I actually just cut back on how often I work for them.
I refuse to ever do another XXXXXXX shop again. I don't know if the store in South Dakota does things totally different than what they want but my reports both times didn't pass. I had a couple of friends try it, and the same happened to them.

Welcome to the forum, Sdcntrygal. Did you notice that no one else mentioned a client name? The reason for that is that our forum guidelines direct us "do not reveal the clients of mystery shopping companies." In addition, when you registered with Intellishop, you signed an Independent Contractor Agreement (ICA) which has a confidentiality clause that prohibits you from revealing the names of their clients. We all signed that ICA and we are careful not to reveal the names of the clients. Please edit your post and remove the client names. Or the moderator may see it first and moderate your post.
I usually make some comment about having to work all night and being exhausted, but no one has ever raised an eyebrow about a burger at 6am.
After a "bump in the road" with them, I have just finished my second job in ages and am happy to report, so far all's good.

Has anyone EVER had any luck getting help when they have an issue with a shop from IntelliShop? I never hear back from anyone. I can't submit my shop because of an issue with their phone system.

Try not to think about it too much. You have to remember, IntelliShop themselves are YOUR clients. It's a good reason to have a decent data retention for your mystery shopping work, in case any of the companies ask you for additional information. Data storage is cheap and affordable these days, so I see no issue in being a hoarder and archiving your work. All of your reasons such as your speculation on 'trivial reasons to invalidate shops' is just that... Speculation. My opinion is that this is a business and if they're asking information from you and you see no worry about any fraudulent data, chances are, there won't be any issues with your work.

Yes. In fact, some of their 'Field Service Coordinators' typically have responded in a timely manner and sometimes engage in small talk with me from time to time.

Agreed. I think schedulers have been told to throttle back on the bonuses -- and they have. Of course the shops sit there longer now. I wait until they pay enough before I buy another doughy undercooked pizza.

If the schedulers were able to give out more bonuses, they would. I recall many shops being pulled from me because of a supervisor decision that I had too many. Those days working with them that year as one of my money makers were absolutely GREAT up until that time sad smiley

They can be a PITA, they seem to have trick questions which I have written about in length on another thread.
Many threads about them, many complaints.

I don't do as many for them as I used to, but today I did a most unusual one (for me anyway) that was pretty easy and no narrative. It involved calling my utility company and using their phone tree. Then I had a bunch of questions regarding the experience. It didn't pay a lot, but it was pretty easy.

What's done is done. An egg cracked cannot be cured.
There are 3 kinds of lies. Lies, Damn lies, and statistics.
Take a look at the numerous negative complaints in the BBB report on Intellishop. Shocking unethical conduct. Incapable leadership.
I do a lot of phone and web shops for Intellishop. I do not have any problems with the schedulers or editors. If I contact the scheduler they usually get back to me that day within a couple hours. I have done on site jobs and did not have problems either. One client paid late and I got paid a month late.
I wouldn’t go that far... I’ve done many shops for them and can’t complain at all about them.

Hard work builds character and homework is good for your soul.
I just read some of the complaints. It's hilarious that a shopper actually went to the BBB website to ask that a flake citation be removed. I actually found that more than half of the complaints were issues caused by the shopper.
I agree with you that a BBB report is not always an accurate indicator. But it is a starting point on getting clues about the company you accept assignments from. I also like to do a web search on what employees say about the working conditions at a company to better understand the corporate culture. Such a search fully supports my conclusion: Incapable leadership, stressed, unhappy employees, working in a toxic environment. My own experience included an unacceptable lack of communication and unprofessional, unethical conduct. I would not recommend this company under any circumstances. There are so many fine MS companies who pay much better, value my skills, and who are rewarding to work for.
Well, you know what they say about bad news. Most news is bad news. For whatever reason, people don't generally report on good news. They should. That's how this forum is also. If there's no problem, issue or misunderstanding what is there to talk about? Really, only children's books are fun and....well, actually they are also full of bad news. Old witches who try to put you in an oven etc. I don't know about unacceptable lack of communication as I can't imagine an acceptable lack of communication. That's funny, right?! I mean, do we really need to email to know if we can add cheese to our hamburger?
