Ardent Services

Hello,

I just started as a MS, I was contacted via email, filled out the application, didn't think I would be picked until I got an email saying my application was approved.

As I'm reading through the threads, I don't see very many topics regarding this company. If you work for them can you give me a shout out. I want to learn more about them and their process. I've done 2 assignments already but had questions.

Thanks.

They still have their fast-growing burger chain and I'm guess that is what the OP has been shopping. The best way to learn about them is to read all the Reference Notes, take any editor comments seriously, and email your scheduler with specific questions. My scheduler is Michelle, who is really great. She's very responsive.
The assignments didn’t happen to involve them mailing you a check, did they?

The only reason I ask is because Ardent isn’t typically the company I see mystery shopping newbies shopping for...
No, it's not for a food chain, but for retail stores, specifically one in particular.

Yes, they did send me a check for me first assignment. It was referenced in the email that I got stating that they accepted my application. I was just wondering if this is typical for this company, to send out funds for their assignments?

Although, I've had issues with my emails going through. I've told the schedulers that I work with about this issue.

I still want to know get more info from others who work for them.

Thanks.
I am sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but you are being scammed by someone who is impersonating the Ardent company. Don’t send them another dime. Go to your bank right away and talk to them.

How much money have you sent these scammers? Walmart gift cards? iPhones?
Let me guess, the check is for much more than the assignment pays and you are to either send them back money or buy some high priced items like cell phones to send to them.

Thank you. I was beginning to get suspicious with the 2nd assignment. They were being kind of pushy, well one in particular. There are 2 people that are texting me.

I will go talk to my bank, about the checks, just to make sure I'm ok.
Those checks are fraudulent. Depending on how long it has been since you deposited them, the bank may not have received notice yet. You need to tell them what happened. If you did withdraw any money, you will be responsible for paying it back to them.

TPS, you are not okay if you sent them any money. Ardent Services is a real company but this is someone using their name to commit fraud. I was an editor for Ardent Services when they had a major restaurant chain client, which they lost. Ardent has never done any sort of retail shops. With Ardent, you have to sign up on their website, wait for acceptance, and then they call you for training onsite at one of the restaurants where they shop. They NEVER pay for work up front, nor do any other companies. You do the work, report on their website, wait for the editor to review your shop, and you get paid the following month.

This is a common check scam that has been going on for years. Read the following links:

Just as bad if you sent them merchandise or prepaid cards such as for iTunes. You would think that with a physical address they could be tracked down and prosecuted.
I'm amazed that people still fall for this.

I can understand someone who knows nothing about mystery shopping can be duped. I’ve received one of these checks and was amazed how authentic it looked. Sure, a little research on google or joining this forum before acting would be prudent. However the lure is so great people act irrationally and ignore the too good to be true rule. This has got to be terrible for the mystery shop industry as real MSC’s try to recruit new shoppers. OP, I hope you weren’t hit too hard and you read the replies here before losing too much.
kenasch, where does common sense come in? Who has not heard about The Nigerian Check Scams? Why aren't red flags going off when "something that is too good to be true" is happening?

It's not about being new to mystery shopping. It's about having common sense.

While I get what you are saying to a degree, Honny, it's when we forum members make comments about someone not having common sense (or worse) that we never hear back from these posters about the outcome. No need to pour salt on the wound. Although we know that money has been most likely lost, I would like to hear followup on if people managed to get the bank to sympathize with them and waive fees and not lock their bank accounts, and also would like to know if these people report to the FTC or other authorities and what kind of action/reaction they get about it. Even if people are naive and it doesn't seem sensible when they fall for this stuff, I feel badly about it and it's sad.

Thanks for your post. I can’t agree with you more. These scammers are clever and that’s why it’s such a big problem for the industry. For shoppers who have been around a while it is common sense but for newbees it’s something else. I hope the OP updates us and is not put off by the insensitive comments.
I do feel bad for them, but I'm not empathetic. You have to take responsibility for your own actions, regardless of the outcome or intention.

My cousin is a bank manager. She sees hundreds of these cases every month.
