I hate these, so I don't pay much attention.

But if somebody knows who needs Audi service, not sales, shops, send them to me.
is monterey still scheduling shops?

Shopping Western NY, Northeast and Central PA, and parts of Ohio and West Virginia. Have car will travel anywhere if the monies right.
I hate them too, what a drain of energy and time. Bestmark, Automotive Insights in addition to what SoCalMama posted.
t takes energy to do a decent job on any shop!
Let them come our way. thanks

I meant no disrespect to you, Mike. The beauty of this job is that we all can do what works for us. When I mentioned that the car shops pay a pittance, I was mainly referring to Bestmark and Intellishop, but those are both just fine for "cutting your teeth" and if you enjoy them, do them. I do have some advice: unless the guidelines state that you must get a trade in value on your car, don't do it when the car salesperson asks. That could add 30 minutes or more to your shop time. It's best to say that you plan on selling it privately or giving it to a relative, etc. Also, do not give them your keys!!! I have heard some horror stories about shoppers being held hostage. If you can get one of those Google numbers for your follow up contact information where you can check it to verify that they did followup and not give out your real number, you will be doing yourself a huge favor as some salespeople will relentlessly call you.

I also want to add that occasionally Bare Evaluations has a high end atuo shop and Gapbuster also has one that pays a little more than the average shop. There was another company awhile back I did a shop for that paid $60...I think it might have been B Business Solutions but I am not sure. Anyway, good luck!

These sound perfect for you then. Who couldn’t use an extra $50-$100 a week for doing what you like to do anyway?

I could see myself shopping make-up counters frequently once I’m retired from my full-time job.
thanx for the advice...yes, I never mention trading, I only give out my email address, never my phone #
and out of quite a few shops, only one wanted my driver's license to make a copy needed for the test drive...I said I didn't understand that since the salesman was going with me in the passenger seat, but they said it was for insurance purposes and they would shred it by the end of the day. my brother the executive businessman said he once test drove a Porsche and they made a copy of his license and while driving ran his credit report which is against the law without his permission. he said that was years ago, but to be careful. he pointed out what irritated him was the fact too many hits on one's credit report can lower one's credit score but he said he assumed they were screening people who could actually afford to purchase and decline to put on an effort with others who couldn't.

Post removed as it breached the Forum guideline which states, "Do not reveal the clients of mystery shopping companies". Additionally, it is usually an ICA violation to name both the MSC and client.

I am from Destin, FL originally and spent quite a bit of time in New Orleans between 1980-1998, at least 3x a year for concerts, French Quarter Fest, Jazz Fest, or to just go hang out with my friends. I have to agree about the food, always wonderful! One of my dearest friends was the pastry chef at Commander's Palace back in the day. Two of my good friends (married couple) were nurses who lived in Metarie and stayed at the hospital evacuating patients during Katrina. They moved back to Destin after that. I live in Ohio now. I have only been back to NO once since I moved up here. Just wasn't quite the same.

Some MSCs will ask you to get your car evaluated for trade in. Others want you to give your phone number and address in addition to the email as there will be questions on the report about various types of followup. Most of them want you to allow the salespeople to scan your DL. You will have to factor in all of this while deciding what shops you will or won't accept. Sometimes you don't get full access to your guidelines until after accepting the shop, so make sure you read them immediately so you can let them know you won't be able to do the shop after all because of (*whatever reason it doesn't work for you). I also don't know how a dealership can run credit checks without a SS#, which in my state is not included on your DL. Is that something that is done in LA?

I too love casinos...and hotels, and restaurants, and...nice to meet you too!
currently, in LA, SS# is the driver's choice on their DL which mine is not there.
I bet it was enough years ago when it was.
I hate that my medicare # on my card is my SS# and I'm required to carry the card in case of a medical need.
My question would have been, who "doesn't do dealerships". I wouldn't do one for fun, that's what I've done for $$. I get 60.00 usually, gap pays 75+ for their one car, but it's work not fun. Just wanting to kick the tires, just go on your own. These are big jobs, and with the exception of Intellishop/Best Mark they pay well. Seelevel has tons of them. They have to copy your Drivers license if your taking a test drive, but as for a credit check, never in
11 years had one....remember your controlling the visit.

Live consciously....

Yes, Automotive Insight farms out their shops to Seelevel for scheduling. When I did them for Automotive Insights I was able to get bonuses for them but Seelevel is not as generous with bonus money. I don't think $35 is enough compensation for a car dealership shop personally, since they are so time consuming. I won't do a dealership shop for less than $42 with Intellishop and other MSCs I also get $60 or more. Gap's shop location is too far for me to do it for $75 but they won't pay me the $140 I asked for, LOL. Maybe in the future.
I’m about to do my first with SEELEVEL. The shop is $75.00 not that bad, I think.. but wow! You’ve made more than that? Cool.
Quick question: How long does the average automobile shop last (1st and 2nd visit)? Also, I feel slightly nervous and intimidated, SLIGHTLY! Any advice for a first timer?

No, $75 is quite good, but is this one of those negotiation shops? I never did one. Well, actually, I once signed up for one, but it was right after a typhoon or something had hit in Asia (where the car manufacturer was located) and they did not have the models in stock that I was supposed to be looking at. The lot was pretty barren...so the MSC cancelled the shop.
just curious...did you do the shop and how did it go
I've only done very quick (low pay) 30-45 min auto shops
that I only time how fast and how cheerful/enthusiastic the sales people are
I'm not even required to take a test drive...I just ask an open question (I'm looking for a mid size SUV
that has all the latest safety features) and just listen to the presentation. then a approx 30 minute
yes/no questions with a few "tell the story" questions to report on.

I was just viewing a SeeLevel shop in my area for $75. The guidelines state that the shopper would need to visit the dealership TWICE. Is that the norm, or is this a special shop for some reason?
