I have worked for them, they are excellent....they do Video shops as well.

Outstanding, family owned company. Every manager, owner and scheduler has actually performed tons and tons of shops. They are very shopper-supprtive, contribute a lot to shopper education, and volunteer for many days a year at shopper education conferencse. As for video, they and Clear Evaluations are always the top two video MSCs named by video shoppers. Just spent 4 days at IMSC interacting with the owners (Russell and Lisa Wood) and 3 of their schedulers. They will also be back at the November conference in Las Vegas.

MFJohnston, if you want to see the industry improved, you will love these folks and their companies.

Have video cam; will travel

Poor customer service? Don't get mad; get video.

I agree with the other comments with respect to these MSCs. In 2011, I was paid $70 for an apt. non-targeted video shop by the Training Factor, which it is my understanding became Grace Hill. As for the Shadow Agency, I have logged two completions, with one of such an unusual nature, I will elaborate.

I traveled almost 300 miles round in 5 1/2 hrs. for a dental cleaning. Unfortunately for me, both the bright light and the dentist's nearness to my chest revealed my video gear through my shirt. Shadow would have been completely within the conditions of the contract to not pay me, but chose to only reduce my fee from $260 to $130 and the cleaning was free. That was the ONLY occasion in my 15+ years as a shopper where, due to my error, a monetary consideration was extended.

Predicated upon the above, I rate both companies a solid "10."
I have done a lot of work for both - they are largely one-in-the-same. They are fine company. Their payments are running slow the last couple of months and they seem to be falling behind their usual pace getting shops edited. However, I have no reservations about working for them.

Hard work builds character and homework is good for your soul.

Shopperbob, would there have been any way to prevent this? A thicker shirt? I'm actually wondering -- I haven't performed video shop yet, so I have no frame of reference.

HG,

I changed to a thicker shirt, but, in that I have not had another dental assignment, I have no way of knowing if that action solved the problem. The lighting the tech uses is, understandably, quite bright, and they probably could not be much closer. If another cleaning job were listed in my area that did not require a cash payment, I would accept the work. My reasoning being that the worst case scenario would be a free cleaning, but under no circumstances would I either drive any distance or front any money to complete the shop.
