Marketforce assigned a shop to me that I did not request?

I usually complete about one shop for a particular food chain for Marketforce a month. Today, I got an e-mail that I was assigned to a shop for the same chain, without ever requesting it or having been asked if I could complete it. It's for a location that I have shopped before, and when I logged into my account to view it, I saw that the fee was much higher than usual (over twice as much). I'm going to be out of town on the day they scheduled me (this Saturday), but I can reschedule it to tomorrow instead, when it won't be too far out of my way.

I do kind of want to complete it, as the pay is pretty good (in comparison to what it usually is) and I don't have any plans yet for dinner tomorrow (lol), but it does feel weird to be assigned to a shop I didn't ask for, out of the blue. I definitely don't want this to become a pattern, as it is very rare for me to have last minute openings in my schedule. I also don't want to have cancellations on my account for shops that I never agreed to complete in the first place. Has anyone had this happen before? If so, what did you do? And is this a regular practice with Marketforce? This is the first time I've had this happen since I started shopping with them last November.

My understanding is MF includes a question on some reports that basically asks if a shopper would be willing to complete the same shop at the same location in the future. If you answered yes, even in error, you are consenting to be auto-assigned. You can check by going to My Account - Basic Information - Auto Assignment.

I had forgotten all about Auto Assignment, but I just double checked it and I did have "No" checked, so I guess that can't be it, unless maybe it's a glitch in the system.

The good thing is you seem to be fine with this one and got it with what sounds like a good bonus. If you had not wanted to do the job, MF is usually good about these situations. You still should let them know what happened. You don't another auto-assigned job an hour away and paying only a $5 reimbursementwinking smiley

I had the same experience once (several years ago). They assigned me 2 shops that I did not request. Like you, I went a head and did the shops since the fees were higher than normal. This situation has not reoccurred since. Therefore, I would not worry too much about this becoming an issue.
I haven't had this happen with Market Force, but I have had it happen with a scheduling company. I have scooped up a few shops types each time they became available, but always on my own time and schedule. One month, an overzealous scheduler went ahead and auto assigned me several shops that I had no plans of taking. I didn't like that at all. I was probably going to scoop them up, but as I could squeeze them in. If MF started doing it, I'd probably not care much for that either. Many of us mystery shop where we can. But, at least you got a good fee?

Back when I used to work for market force, I had good relationships with a few American based schedulers. We had an understanding that if they were able to find an additional shop on one of my routes that was being offered at my normal high rates, they could add it without contacting me first. This happened maybe once a month, and I was always quite happy. Perhaps this was a scheduler taking some liberties.
