Hotel assignments ------POINTS & Miles

Can you use points and miles to book a hotel assignment? Will you also earn Points & Miles if I book through my rewards number for the assignment, does anyone have any experience with this?

You will find that a ton of forum members have a LOT of hotel and rewards systems experience. Rewards points are, IMHO, part of the payoff for doing hotel and resort shops. Most who do those shops, belong to every rewards program and have the affiliated credit card to garner more points.

I would use hotel points if it is a hotel that I never frequent but received a special offer of a free stay for every two nights stayed.

I have points at a brand that has gone downhill and would only stay if it were an assignment. The only place worth staying is out of the country for this brand. Or if the hotel has a hefty price of anywhere from $399-$475 for the select dates for the hotel.

ALL, do you mean to say that you are not interested in hotel rewards points that can be used by any brand in hotel "families" like Marriott, Hilton and the like? And, BWT, the Choice Hotels have a stay 2 nights get one free offer several times per year. Their Comfort Suites can provide very comfortable lodgings when you use Trip Adviser to pre-screen for top reviews. Having a microwave and small refrigerator can be a life saver on a long route! The Chelsea brand has few locations but can be quite comfortable.

But, if you are wanting Ritz-Carlton or nothing when not doing a shop, just convert your hotel points to airline points. Either way, the rewards add up.

Why would you? What benefit would you have to use your rewards to book a hotel for a shop?

Unless the MSC is providing you with a lump sum fee to cover both reimbursements and fees for the shop, why would you even consider it?

No, I am saying a particular brand. If I am not mistaken, The Comfort Suites stay 2 get one free ended May 31st, but that is not the brand. It is a particular brand not all. I LOVE!!!! my rewards and status with each and every high-end hotels and airline.
I was just responding to the question "why someone would use their points to secure hotel for an assignment."?
But thanks you for looking out, and always providing helpful advice.
