Maritz Yellow Gas Station Editors Don't Know How to Do Their Job

I've been shopping yellow gas stations for almost two years now and recently JLS has been putting them on hold for not including photos of the diesel pumps. It clearly states in the guidelines NOT to evaluate diesel only pumps. I clearly mention in the report that the missing fueling positions are diesel pumps. JLS also wants me to take a front counter photo at kiosk locations which is literally impossible. The guidelines clearly state one photo of the kiosk is enough. I might have five shops rejected because of this. Why do I need to remind the editor to review the guidelines?

You should not have to remind editors at all. However, they are human and it could very well be that the editor looking at your stuff is new to the project.

Assuming you are correct on the guidelines issues you raised and there are not other concerns, you should not have problem getting the shop through. The editor does not actually reject the shops. The editor will flag the issues and the project manager will make the determination. If you are correct, the project manager will accept your shops and educate the editor.

Hard work builds character and homework is good for your soul.
If my shop is on "hold" for a questionable request, I just note in the comment section that no, the photos are not blank, blank, blank. Or say, according to my guidelines, there is no required photo of the blank, blank blank. Or, according to the guidelines, blank blanks are not supposed to be evaluated. But, you could also mention that pumps blank and blank are diesel pumps and according to guidelines, not to be evaluated.
What they said. If you have what they want, give it to them. If you don't, and you aren't supposed to, politely point that out in the comments and send it back to them. Works for me.
Also keep in mind, the editor of our reports only see the report. They do not necessarily see or know the guidelines. They are responding to a flag that has been flagged in our report.
The yellow stations are my least favorite from this MSC because of the editors but I have to disagree sojo. The editors must know the guidelines in order to do their job properly. If they don't they are flying blind.
Call the editors and say that the shoppers must "do as the guidelines says". They do not ask where in the guidelines does it say that. I have on many occasions opened up my ID and password to an editor to let them see what was in question.

Once we submit a report, it is scanned through their technology device, which is why the device would flagged our report, if a requirement is not fulfilled. The reports are like state-wide test. No teacher is sitting around correcting the test with right and wrong answers. No editor is sitting around "grading" our reports.

So yeah they are flying blind until the techno machine flag our reports. They still don't have to know the guidelines but they do want to know why WE didn't follow the guidelines. Because reading the guidelines were Our requirement.

Well, if that "techno" device exists, it would explain some of the questionable holds in which I've been subjected. It might also explain why, when I comment and disagree with the "hold", I hear no more from the editor and the shop goes through.

Good example: "Your photos are not clear enough, please resolve this hold with another photo".

I look at my photo and can clearly see the objects in it. So, I comment that the photo is clear.

Debrief passes.

I would be willing to bet that the technology is state of the art...15 years ago. It probably was a huge investment and improved the whole reporting system...then. I think Maritz has outgrown and surpassed the old technology machine but just doesn't understand how, in current times, it is flawed and actually creates more work for all concerned.
Why are they randomly changing answers that are obviously correct? Has anyone else noticed this happenning on their reports?
They remove good photos and change answers. I use to love doing these shops and now hate them as most of them get put on hold without reason.
I think it's spreading to the green stations as well.

MFJ - I think the issue here is that the OP should not ever, as in EVER! have to remind an editor about such clear instructions....I have had the same thing happen to me with Maritz, and it is a waste of my time...effectively, when this happens again and again, as the OP's post states, it becomes costly.

The worst part about fixing their mistakes now is that they'll delete photos that aren't necessary and send back a hold, but you have to put placeholder photos back in order to submit it. I can't believe they haven't fixed this stupid issue of requiring placeholder photos when a photo isn't necessary.
@MaritzCX Scheduler ??

Like if there is no restroom yet you need to upload a restroom photo in order to submit the report, you stick something in there. Anything.

I don't add a "placeholder" photo. I just submit it with the slot blank. It will go through on the second attempt.

I don't disagree with you one bit. That was the very first sentence of my response.

That does not change the fact that they are humans and humans are not perfect. Mistakes happen. This sounds like one editor who has a misunderstanding of the guidelines. If the project manager has to continue to review assignments put on hold due to an editor's lack of understanding, s/he will speak to the editor as it wastes the project manager's time as well. If the editor continues to make the same mistakes, the editor will be moved on.

We all make mistakes. When we as shoppers miss an assignment, make grammatical errors, forget guidelines, etc., we waste the editors', schedulers' and project managers' time - not to mention our own. It's all part of our humanity.

I can choose to get angry and waste more time, or simply move on.

I second the no placeholder photo comment. You click submit, it says you are missing a photo, and you click submit again. The shop submits.
Didn't want to start a new thread for this simple question: Does your face have to be in the vest pic? Has anyone had a headless selfie approved? I have stayed away from this brand forever but am now taking the plunge. Figured I could get a quicker response here than w/ Maritz because my maiden yellow voyage is Monday. Thanks in advance!
I do a lot of gas stations, with yellow on the bottom of the list, and the last picture I take is a selfie of my vest. The picture is from the neck to the waist, showing the vest, name tag and manual if required. I have never included my handsome face.
I always used take it like jake. Then one day a scheduled said that they’ve always been disappointed that I do that because she wanted to know what I look like. It was kinda flirty so I just went with it and started telling valley girl selfies

Thanks! From the threads on yellow stations, I guess I had better take both kinds and see what happens submitting the headless one first. Good to have backups of everything!
