Hi heathern, and welcome to the forum! STN is a solid company. Fees are kind of on the low side for some of their shops. Most of their schedulers promptly reply to email, or text. I appreciate that I can self-assign, and change dates on their site, if needed. They pay like clockwork.
While I don't do a lot of work for them, perhaps 1 - 3 jobs a year, I have never had any issues with them. If you see something you like, go for it!
I agree that STN is great to work for. However, I think you have to earn the right to self-assign shops, and in my area some requests must still go through a scheduler.

Correct, KathyG. And, I don't recall how many shops need to be successfully completed before earning the right to self-assign.
I do their pizza job, low pay but great pizza.....never had a problem.

Live consciously....
how many shops need to be successfully completed before earning the right to self-assign----four in 365 days. Keep in mind $1.00 is deducted from each months total payments for processing no matter if it's one shop or six.
the company is good and legitimate by pay is very low. All time they pay just reimbursements for food and their reports a bit complicated..

I don't ever recall having any money deducted from whatever the agreed upon fee was. Anyone else??????
They are a good company. I've done a few restaurants and lab test shops with them and the reporting isn't that bad. My scheduler is very responsive too.

I've never had them deduct any fees.

STN deducts a processing fee of $1 for anyone who chooses PayPal. There is no fee for direct deposit.

Oh, that's interesting. Good info to know. I've always been paid thru DD, so wasn't aware of the PP fee.

As long as the shop you’re doing does not involve purchasing gift cards, or cell phones, or wiring hundreds of dollars to someone... you should be good. If the shop scenario involves a few hundred dollars in any way, it’s a scam.

That being said, I have done a few shops for Second To None, and did not have any problems.
I'd do more for STN if they had more shops in my area and if the pay was better. One shop I used to do for them would usually get bonused up to a point at which it was worth the time, but I haven't seen that one in quite some time.

That being said, I like them. Their schedulers are very responsive and helpful when you have a question.

I can self-assign shops, and I haven't met whatever the quantity threshold someone noted, but I think there are some shops that are self assign to any shopper.

I learn something new every day, but not everyday!
I've learned to never trust spell-check or my phone's auto-fill feature.
I enjoy the few shops I get to do for STN. Usually there are only a handful of jobs available, and half of them are game store shops requiring a kid. The pizza place they have shops for has great food, but you have to hope no one grabs the job so that it gets bonused enough to actually make a few bucks on top of the food price.

On the other hand, it's the place with the best reimbursement only shops I've found. Two local stores, one a $200-500 reimbursement only boot shop and another that is a $60 premium drinkware/cooler place.
Wow! I wish those stores were in my area.

Both are companies headquartered in the same city and both are companies that just have the company owned store shopped. So not a nationwide or even regional shop.

A LONG time ago, they used to have the account for a popular coffee shop. I literally did hundreds of those until the client stopped shopping.

Yes and I remember weighing the coffee in my car hoping not to spill any.

I still have my scales. They still work.
Second to none is amazing. They are definitely my favorite out of the mystery shop companies I work for, even though the pay can be a bit on the low side sometimes. Also I don't recall the steps to get the self assign option, but make sure to do whatever you can to get this. I have this feature and just love it..

I will be doing the pizza shop for the first time tomorrow. The instructions seem straight forward enough. Is there anything in particular I should watch out for? Thanks.
I have worked for STN and hope to pick up a couple new (to me) shops with them in the near future. Just have to figure out some logistics.

That said, I have four kids between 6-17, so I can typically do the "age test" shops (ie: rated R movies and STN game store shop....though my 17 year old just aged out of the "age tests..." ) Anyway, when I do the game store shop with my son, the pay is pretty low and you don't get a reimbursement for a purchase. And there is NOTHING in my local store to purchase for less than a cheap pair of $5 headphones. We've even gone in to scout it out before...and the cost of goods (ie: no candy bar or gum at the counter....) is just too prohibitive to continue the shops, unless my kid(s) actually have a need/want for their occasional game....which doesn't happen more than a couple times a year
Just pay attention to all the observations you have to make (signs, stickers, what's on the finishing table, etc) and get all the timings that are asked for.
Its been awhile since I've shopped second to none but I don't recall any shop taking longer than a week
