Maritz Badge for Green Gas

Hi,
I'm fairly new and have only done Yellow and Tiger shops for Maritz. Last night I accepted my first green shops and got my first look at the paperwork. I have the vest, but this one requires a shopper ID badge and it will be mailed to me. That would be fine but my first one is due tomorrow. I've been emailing and leaving voice mails for team 4 since last night. No response. I thought of making my own, but I don't know what they look like. Has anyone else run into this? Were you able to shop with just the letter?
This forum has been really helpful. Thanks so much to the veterans who contribute and answer. I appreciate you.

The badge is unimportant. The book is very important. Do they still require they they send you the printed guidelines book or do they finally make it available online? I haven’t done that brand this year. They’re the worst.

Thank you,
The paperwork says they'll mail it but it was also online. Its 32 pages, i think thats the one. I printed it so i can take more cool vest selfies. My teenaged daughter thinks the vest is hysterical.

The vest looks silly unless you’re in a position to need the vest. On site it immediately turns you into an authority figure.
I’m convinced that you could rob a station blind and they’d let you as long as you’re wearing a safety vest.

I like when other customers come in wearing a safety vest for their construction job and you just stare at each other and say whats up man? like some kind of camaraderie.
Yeah but one of you is wearing khakis and a polo the other is covered in dried up mud. Lol

The standard procedure is that they send you the badge along with a printed manual. In addition, there are downloads of update letters, POP guide, pump instructions, etc. You also have to pass an online quiz before you can do the shop. If you haven't taken and passed the quiz don't do the shop as you won't get paid. However I don't think you will be able to download the proper documents for the shop until you take the quiz. As for the badge, all the brands for Maritz require one and they are sent to you. There is a lot of effort and time spent getting started with any of the brands but you probably know that as you said you have done yellow and tiger shops. My suggestion is that you not bother to email but keep calling team 4. Eventually you will get through. Good luck
I lost my name badge a long time ago. Requested another but never got it. It has never been as issue.

Edited to add: This is for the yellow stations, not the green. Wearing a vest and carrying a notebook seems sufficient to prove my bona fides.

I have found that wearing the vest and carrying my clipboard with my notes/ checklist is absolutely necessary in certain neighborhoods.
I go from suspicious soccer mom in the minivan possibly taking pictures of the drug deals to person who is there for a reason and doesn't care about said drug deal.....
I have found that the station owners don't care about the badge and that the customers 'hanging out' on the lot leave me alone when wearing said 'trendy' vest....

When I started wearing the vest for the stations that don't require it (or at least didn't when I started), it made a huge difference in dirty looks. I rarely get a second look and only occasionally get asked what I'm doing. More often it's, "Do you work here?" So it's love/hate with my vest.

And I think you're right on the authority figure part. A clerk that didn't know how to turn on lights told me I could go into the back room to do it. I don't know how to either. Yikes! Don't tell people that!

I've heard from clerks and managers about shoppers abusing our perceived authority. A clerk told me that a shopper said she had to open her vest for the uniform photo. She had on a v-neck shirt when I was there, kinda low, but the vest covered almost to her collar bone and was baggy. So the other shopper was asking her to reveal skin and the shape of what was under that vest. She said that they reported the incident. Good. They may be obligated to comply with the audit (although I've had two refusals out of hundreds), but they can refuse the photo. Crap like that hurts the next shopper who has to visit that store.
Yeah that's crappy. Though all it takes to do this job is the ability to fill out a web form so you're going to get all kinds.

Well, I don't have a badge for the "blue" gas station. I wish I could have one, but have asked and have been told there are none for this shop. Too bad as I do quite a few of these stations.

A funny story: While performing a shop for one of the "yellow" stations, the Velcro on my safety vest attached it self to my top. I didn't realize it did this. When I took off the vest (along side my truck), it ripped off my top's buttons and nearly left me with a "wardrobe malfunction". I felt so foolish! When I looked around, I noticed the person in the car across from me grinning.

A few safety pins and continuous wearing of the vest allowed me to do the remainder of my shops that day (the bank shop was a wee bit silly though).

Lesson learned; I always keep a spare set of clothes in a canvas bag that I take with me.
You are correct. The blue station does not require or provide a badge or require a vest. I made my own badge and wear a vest on this shop. And I agree, a vest and badge provides a bit of authority to the shop and helps avoid questions.
