Navigating around Coyle

Can someone help me to navigate on the Coyle site? I can get in and see the available jobs but I can not see what the guidelines are. One says you need to pay cash for some items and I would like to see what those are to estimate how much cash I would need. Other companies have something to click on so you can look at the guidelines and questionnaire before you apply for the shop.

Hi,

Do yourself a great favor and look at the posts about this company. I have posted a rather long post stating the numerous hours that I spent on a shop, and now will not get anything for my effort and my expenses for the shop. Since I do not have anything good to say about this company, I will only say, SHOPPER BEWARE!!
Coyle are getting from bad to worse and the exchange rate they calculate stiffs me each and every time. I am not looking to write lenghty idiotic repetitive reports and lose money on top. New shoppers beware.
HI I see no one has really answering this. I have done about 20 shops for them and generally the only thing you need to pay cash for are tips for hotel shops and even then it won't state that, I suppose it's just assume you cannot tip a hotel maid on a credit card. Otherwise you can put it on a credit card. You should be able to see the shop details when you click on it. For the restaurant shops I would have enough cash or credit for the amount they reimburse minus your pay. So for many they reimburse you let's say $100 for the shop plus $20 pay. You should have at least $100 cash because they set the reimbursement based on how much the shop is going to cost. If you are not sure, then go to the website of the eatery and see how much meals costs or run the hotel through expedia to get a general idea. If there is a minimum you must spend it will say that if not then there is no minimum but it's well advised to figure out how much it will cost you. Let me know if I can otherwise help. I agree their website is not the easiest to navigate.
Lisannez, thank you for your help. I have done restaurant shops for Coyle. I am experiencing some frustration with the hotel shops. I have been applying for almost a year. My applications stay on my page for a very long time. Other companies will answer you within 24 hours. Sometimes Coyle lists shops months in advance and it is difficult to commit to another company because you are waiting to see if your application has been accepted. I do hotel shops for other companies and would like to add Coyle to my list. I really appreciate your reply.
Mention your hotel experience when applying for the shop. Yes, Coyle takes time to schedule shops sometimes. Maybe contact/email the scheduler directly. I started with hotel shop that was in unpopular/international location; I had restaurant and call shops by then with Coyle so I already had a history with them.
Hotel shops do not require cash, only for tips or to oay bar tab. Sometimes they offer “easier” hotel shops for first-time hotel shoppers; maybe try those. Also, they offer travel allowance if the location is not popular ir hard to find a shopper. But don’t give up, you will get one hotel eventually and then it will be easier to get more.
I got approved for my first hotel shop in June and I honestly think that it was because they had nobody else! I had also been applying for a little over a year. I did a lot of other shops, a hair salon plenty of eateries, but would never get picked. For the hotel shop They emailed me a week prior to the shop. Thankfully it was right across from my office, so I could do it. I scored well but it was a ton of work! I find with them as well you have to apply for the shops immediately or all the good ones are gone and you have to apply as a backup and hope that someone else does not show up. I mentioned my hotel experience I travel a ton and it never helped me, I think I just got lucky and they really needed a shopper. The shop I did was not easy by any means. It required me to take about 100 photos and the report too 8 hours or so to do. I got about 15 follow up emails from them too. I hope you get one soon. I am wondering if now that I did one I can get more, but honestly the thought of doing that report again is worse than the though of writing an legal brief for my job smiling smiley. So much work!

Actually, some of their hotel shops do require cash - for EVERYTHING, including a significant and meaningful amount towards the actual room rate. I actually love these shops.

And, yes, most of the hotel shops that have a bar component also require that you settle your check in cash. Twice. (Order a drink, pay with cash. Order a second drink, pay with cash.)
